Buy a chrome one from eBay--this is the one I got ($69.63 w/ free shipping--was $54.90 last November) to replace the "color-matched" one on my '09 Prerunner (it was too SUV looking for my old eyes). It's the same as the OEM grill, probably made with the same molds...

I'll probably stick with the blacked out look considering all my trim is black but thanks for the info! Any suggestions on what type of paint I should use on the grille?IMG_20170727_133000205.jpg

When I first did my Satoshi i used some type of spray paint for plastics and 3 coats of clear. I can't remember the brand.

After about 3 years it had a bunch of rock chips so I redid it with Spray on bedliner. It still chips but its super easy to fix

I'd simply order a new one from Camelback Toyota. They're like $160. Then no worries about chipping paint, scratched paint, uneven texture. Just get a new one and be set for as long as you have the truck. It'll also look better when you sell it later on, if you choose to do so

I personally would color match paint it, but otherwise I use engine paint on all my black stuff, takes a little longer for a full cure but it is acrylic based so it lasts longer and stronger than most paints

I'm assuming that's a plastic grille. You could use a plastic restorer to perk that right up. I wouldn't paint it.

I tried using meguiars ultimate black on it but it didn't work to well. Works great on fenders and bumpers though.

    I haven't used but it's a safe bet it's a solid product.

I'm assuming your talking about the faded portion on top of the grill surround next to the hood. If so a plastic restorer won't help you there since that's painted. It looks like the clear coat is beginning to fail.

This is not correct. On models with black grilles, it is not painted. It is just black plastic (like most jeep wrangler fenders). It can be restored with plastic restorer.
