Hi guyz I have $350 sitting around and was planning to buy grille guard for my new 2010 tacoma to protect the front. My truck came stock with Engine Skid Plate. Do I have to remove this skid plate inorder to install grille guards ? Also can anyone point me out for grill guard that are under my price range and easy to install:). Thank You.

Shouldn't have to remove the stock skid plate to install. As far as pricing, don't know how much they cost in general so I don't know who would be the cheapest of if there are any under $350. I just went with a bull bar on mine.

If you find anything nice please post pics of the product installed. I picked up a 10 Tacoma end of August and was looking to get the Westin bull bar, but the commute to work has a lot of deer so I was thinking a full brush guard instead to help protect the front end in case Bambi decides he wants to jump in front of me.

A full brush guard may protect you but then again if a deer hits ya (ala you hit a deer) it may cause more damage - just from what I've seen. A ARB bumper is probably the best bet but that is expensive and requires replacing your bumper...

I actually installed an Arctic bull bar from Avid Off Road because for what I wanted it fit the bill... (it now has some lights on it, need to take a new pic)

Thanks for the info msaniac. I'll keep a lookout and see what I might like. It'll be a while till I can get something, but Christmas is around the corner and I can start leaving hints for the wife laying around...

The factory one yes. I am not sure about aftermarket ones. I have the black one that comes with the TRD sport package - it isn't the silver one though. The arctic bull bar mounts to where the bumper mounts. If I get some time this afternoon I'll take a picture for ya.

    ordered
I just ordered a Smittybilt bull bar feom prformance for trucks.....i got it for $154.99 shipped...i had to wait for about a month because i think they are made to order but it was worth the wait....easy to install and you do leave your stock skid in place...dont even touch a skid plate bolt....actually you only loosten 4 nuts all together that are on the truck...if you look down between your grille and radiator, you will see an aluminum block that bolts your frame to your bumper...take off the two outside nuts and put on the bracket....they provide another longer bolt to secure the mounting bracket then 4 bolts for the bull bar...ill attach a pic that shows the mounting bracket...hope this helps...and a link to where i got the bull bar

The Arctic bar is similar to this where you mount it - the 4 bolts he is talking about mount directly to the bar, no adapter necessary.

Is that the Westin Sportsman? Did you have to take off the factory skid plate to mount it?

I agree this one looks pretty good, but I just don't like the look of grill / brush guards.
