I've decided I want to de-chrome my truck. I've seen a lot of guys plastidipping the grilles but that seems to be a non-permanent mod. I don't want to have to baby my grille every time I wash it. So, I'm thinking of painting the grille. But, I'm nervous about paint adhesion to the chrome. Is there a self-etching primer you guys trust on this, or am I SOL and need to properly sand the whole grille? I'd rather not go the sanding route because the '16 TRD grill is pretty detailed so it'll be a pain in the ass. Thanks!

I used a self etching primer on my chrome................. the paint still came off quickly, and the primer was still there like rice on white
