I enjoy rolling the dice with the greasy frozen burger flare up. Always exciting.

It's a giant cast iron pan that you use outside. That being said...

I enjoy mine and use it frequently but not as frequent as my grill. Maybe a 3:1 grill:Blackstone.

The main difference is the types of foods you can make. As with a cast iron pan, proper care and cleaning are simple, but necessary. I enjoy cooking outside so it's pretty fun, especially when I pretend to be a hibachi chef.

We used our Blackstone a pretty good amount, it's great for breakfast, smash burgers, hibachi, fried rice and many other things. I can tell you one thing I don't like about the smaller one I have it that it's too short so I end up hunched over a lot. I wish it was taller and if it was I would probably use it more often. Now this ISN'T a regular grill it's like using a cast iron pan on your stove as things will cook much the same way.

If you get one don't be like me and run out of propane 1/2 way through your mothers day hibachi cook because you forgot to check how much was left. Any way it goes I would wait for a sale, my wife bought mine for me for christmas a few years back. She said she got a really good deal on a Walmart end of grilling season special (same way I bought my old Cuisinart Pellet Smoker).

Just throw a cast iron on the grill. I have a 12" cast iron skillet, and I used to have a cast iron griddle pan - flat and slatted on the other side. One of these.

Ended up not using it enough and cleaning of the griddle side was a royal pain in the balls. Flat side was cool, but I hardly used it. Thing was heavy too. But, that being said, I'd throw one of those on the grill and then it's dual purpose blackstone and grill. Or maybe there's a bigger option out there that directly converts a grill.

:notsure: then you can take it out and have normal grill

Re: Rebuilding - I resuscitated a neighbors old beat up Weber, the frame was fine, the body was a chunk of aluminum so that's fine, and the replacement parts were easy to find. Grates were the most costly because I went with stainless steel instead of cast iron or enameled. Highly recommend just rebuilding. I didn't take care of my old grill enough and the barrel rusted through so that was junkity junk.

My wisest investment I have ever made was a second propane tank. I got it for camping but 99% of the time it's the backup grill tank. When one empties, the other goes in. Hot swap has happened before :p

PS this isn't mine, but this is how I have both stored/move them:

I only take them out for a filling :D

Family reunion my sisters mix up this bigass chicken stirfry. So I busted out the flat top insert and threw it on the Weber. Came out just fine
upload_2025-9-4_11-58-19.jpgI even used it to sear a bigass rib roast.
upload_2025-9-4_11-59-1.jpgNo flare ups they have their uses but I ain’t making room for another outdoor cooking implement on my patio. Anyone who goes through grills from rusting out get a Weber. Mines 6 years old and still like new except I replaced the burners and heat shield last year.

Those heat shields should be considered a maintenance item every year or so, depending how much you use it. Cover a weber genesis and it'll outlive me.
I have a tabletop smoker I already have taking up space, not adding in a third for me - but I do like the griddle on yours, I've never needed that much space so I'd just throw one of my many cast iron or carbon steel pans in and call it a day.

    4 run, 2 don't
    That's a nice setup

Wife just got me a new grill (small weber) as I really didn't want a blackstone at all

Gonna have to grab one of those to add to my setup

Got it for Father’s Day 2 years ago and just now got to use it a month ago. They preach even heat distribution on the black stone is far superior (insert Grey Poupon commercial here) but that insert does just fine

I have a couple of stovetop cast iron griddles I picked up I have only used them a few times, and mainly when camping, I wanted a Blackstone, but it was just that a want. I have also used my cast iron skillet over the charcoal grill or campfire. and when I really need a flat(ish) top surface I have the discada I made, something else that is rarely used. mainly for fajitas or a Mongolian grill type meal.
