Alright guys I normally don't post on here because I resolve my issues from reading other peoples posts but I'm 100% at a loss on my taco.

I bought the truck used so I knew it had some issues but no matter what I fix on it it still has a grinding noise coming from the front of the truck. Whenever I turn right coming from a stop the grinding noise is loud and can feel vibrations. Now I will not drive the truck since I'm hearing the noise while driving straight as well (Luckily I got my cummins truck in the mean time).

I replaced the needle bearing on the drivers side with the ECGS bushing and it helped for maybe 40 miles then the grinding came back. I'm beginning to think the front diff might be screwed. I replaced the diff fluid a while back and didn't notice any large metal shavings. I'll list below everything I've done to the truck.

    2006 Tacoma SR5 4x4 180,000 miles
Bilstein 5100 1.75" Front and Dakar leaf springs

    Parts that have been Replaced---
ECGS axle bushing clamshell (drivers side)
    Both cv axels
    Both inner outer tie rods
    Driver side wheel bearing
    Rotors and pads both sides
Upper control arms replaced with SPC
    Front diff fluid changed
    Both Sway bar end links

Steering pump has a small leak and will replace the seal soon but I'm pretty sure this is not the issue.

I'll get a video of noise if requested.

Weird.. What about the front driveshaft, ever grease that?

Also, you sure you didnt install the ECGS bushing in too far? Im not sure what the symptoms of that might be, but I do know they tell you to be careful

What about the passenger side? Do the bearing there as well?

Yes I grease all axel u-joints typically when I change the oil. I've been thinking the ECGS bushing could be in too far but I'll have to double check. I'll upload a picture of when I installed it.

I checked the passenger side wheel bearing by jacking up the truck and spinning the tire/ grabbing the 12 and 6 o'clock positions. Didn't seem like it was bad. The needle bearing on the passenger side I have not checked. Mostly cause the sound never happens when I turn left, only when I turn right.

For what it's worth, my truck was making a grinding noise. I would have swore it was the passenger side wheel bearing. Changed it, no change in noise, turns out it was my drivers side wheel bearing bad. Since you haven't replaced your passenger side wheel bearing, it may be worth a shot to do it.

I think that pretty much the only thing that hasnt been replaced haha. Probably where I would start, if nothing else just to be consistent with the drivers side.

A few things to note OP: no needle bearing the pass. side. Thats a regular ball bearing and doesnt typically go bad. Also, I have seen many many times on here where a front wheel bearing passes the 'push / pull' test, but is still bad.

Mine passed the push pull test and also felt smooth just rolling the tire and wheel, after removing the wheel I could feel the bearing was bad.

Thanks guys! I’ll replace the passenger side wheel and then go from there.

OP, the expected life of the front wheel bearings on our trucks is 100k mi. At 180k you are just a tiny bit over on that RH bearing........

The front right bearing is "okay" (as far as I can tell). I've narrowed the sound down to either the rear wheel bearing or the shoes for the drums. I was going to replace the shoes yesterday but my other truck was stolen along with all of my tools... :(
So once I get some new tools and change them out I'll let you guys know if it fixed the issue.

Just wanted to give you guys an update on everything. The grinding noise turned out to be the rear drums(I think lol). Everything worked fine for a few days and then the torque converter started acting up. Truck would violently shake trying to shift from 3 to 4 gear. Flushed the entire system and replace with Toyota ATF WS, it helped a lot but was still a slight vib coming from the torque converter. Did some research and added the "Dr. Tranny Lube Guard" and it completely fixed the Problem. Checked the magnets in the transmission pan and luckily there weren't any large pieces of metal.

Not too sure if the grinding noise was the brakes or the transmission. I had a friend slow drive while I walked along to find the noise and it seemed like it was coming from the brakes. All in all the truck drives like a brand new.

Thank you guys for helping figure out the problem.

P.s got my stolen cummins back with only a few damages.
