Never noticed this sound before but we got some snow and I was turning fast to the left and heard this grinding sound come from the front end and then it stopped and it did again a while shorter

On dry pavement you can do it completely to the left and right and Does not make a sound

Any ideas what this could be before I go ahead and get it looked at by mechanics

It's the sound of the snow crunching under your tires.

No man , I'm no idiot I can tell the difference between that and a grinding noise coming from the front end

If it wasn't snow/ ice rubbing somewhere, you should be able to easily reproduce the sound. If you can reproduce it on a left turn, it's likely the right wheel bearing.

Wheel bearings are notorious for grinding sounds when they're worn out

Could be your traction control kicking in when the tires spin that creates a grinding sound in front till traction is found to the rear tires.

Most likely your traction control kicking in.
