Grinding sound when locking doors

Hey guys, today I went to my truck to grab something out of there and when I went to lock it, the driver's side door made a grinding noise. Door still locks and unlocks, just makes that noise. I posted a video on the TW Facebook page and they all suggested it was the door lock actuator. Can I fix it? Or is it better to replace it? Also, how difficult is it to get to and remove? Thanks!

 

first make sure its not one of the nylon wire clips broke.

as far as I know there they are self contained and so there is nothing there to fix.

they are easy to replace after taking off the door panel and removing the door handle and glass and the rear window track to get access to it.

bad news is they cost a fortune and even used from salvage yard it costs around $100 each, and new is like $500
