So, I am no stranger to Toyota...
    1986 Sr5, 1998 T100, 2007 Tundra (4.3 L V8), 2010 Tundra (5.7 L V8), 2018 Taco, 2017 Taco, and finally a 2025 Taco.
With each year Toyota has continued surprise me with innovative features and options...but in 2025, I was surprisingly disappointed.

So....I bought a new truck....got rid of the 2017 Taco and splurged on a 2025...sounds good, right?
Well....I am not enamored with it. Here are my list of beefs.
    1. Lane assist - I have fought the truck three times to miss wildlife, I finally figured how to turn that off. The button disappeared from the steering wheel.
    2. When I back up...sometimes, I leave the drivers door open....not any more...the truck wont even more. Anyone know how to turn that feature off?
    3. Fuel economy is bad...I was getting 21 mpg, not great I know, but it's a truck...now I am down to 18.3...for a four cylinder? Torque is great...but fuel economy sucks.
    4. I bought the TRD off road ....no mud flaps....and no plug ins in the tailgate which were standard on the last model.
    5. Worst of all, the seat configuration in the rear switched from 40:60 TO 60:40....sounds petty, but I bought neoprene seat covers...that I have since had to retrofit...but changes like this piss me off. The covers were nearly $500....and I had to cut and make it work.
    6. The electronics suck...sometimes it connects....sometimes it doesn't.
    7. Washing the car is a joke...all I can say is leave the keys inside...it will continue to lock and unlock.
    8. My last major beef is the turning radius....it is far too wide. I used to be able to trailer with no troubles...back up and turn on a dime...now it's more like a 50 cent piece.
    9. My final peeve...too much plastic....if you put anything in a tray or cubby...it rattles which drives me nuts.
    10. It is super noisy...the motor is loud. I know its a turbo, but come on.
    11. The turn signals are super quiet....my hearing is good...but I cant hear these at all.
    12. Why is the volume switch for the radio on the left side of the wheel and channel changer on the right? What was wrong with the way it was? Ughhh....
    13. I think I lost a few inches in the back seat area...seem more cramped that earlier models.

Toyota, stop over-engineering your trucks. Not a truck that is so jam packed with technology that it takes all the fun out of driving.

Some one asked me to post the things I like.....
    1. Pick up is great....goes like a rocket.
    2. The lights in the bed were a good idea.
    3. Four wheel drive works great and I like the dial switch that allows you to change driving modes.

    I should have bought a 2023...my loss.

    1. Absolute dog shit JBL stereo with the removable center speaker dock that overpowers every other speaker utterly ruining the stereo image...finally had to cover the pins to take it out of the signal chain since you can't lower the volume to a suitable level, but the rear speakers are still barely audible.

Loving everything else however. I get about 24 mpg highway on 285/70/17 SLs and 20mm offset wheels with no air dam. 18.3 must be a lot city driving...and no way in hell you were getting 21 mpg on a 3rd gen under similar driving conditions.

Which truck on your list is your favorite and least favorite? It would probably be nice to have those Tundras back.

My truck with a manual transmission backs up with the driver's door open just fine. I was actually a little concerned about that before I got it, reading other people fuss about it. The lane assist is nice on the interstate. Everywhere else it's more of a nuisance than anything. And I'm with you on the plastics. It's definitely not a premium experience. It sort of feels like you're in a giant snap-tite model.

I'm scratching my head. Whenever I want to override Lane Assist, I move the steering wheel. There's no fighting it.

I have non of these issues with my 24 TRD OR Premium, extremely quiet inside, get 22 mpg city 25 highway, no rattles, no issues with the electronics, what are you fighting ,just turn the steering wheel, I leave the key fob in the truck all the time it never locks and unlocks .There is no more plastic in the new one compared to the 23 model, I think the turn signals are a little loud.

I occasionally check the 4th gen forums for new owner feedback, it’s hard to take you seriously when it’s not only your first post, but your first day as a member. Post a pic of the mule and tell us what things you do like.

    Happy Friday!

No different than any other car with proximity locking on the door handles. I have to leave the keys in the garage for both of our cars with this. I had a BMW X1 with the "waggle your foot under the hatch" opener. More than once that damn hatch opened up while I was washing it. So I just learned to not have the keys on me while washing the car.

All new 2025 vehicles have this, it's a Federal requirement by 2027. You can turn it off.

    Well this is reassuring. Considering

We are considering a new T4R for the wife and after I read the OP’s post I was having second thoughts, assuming the new gen Tacos and T4Rs are still very similar.
