I must vote for a Yaris over a Prius. In comparison it seems that the Prius is a Yaris with higher MPG and a 5K premium. Calculated, it would take 25 years to pay off for gas usage, if we are not considering getting it back in resale value. That's also not considering if it's purely electric.

The things you do when you're supposed to be studying..

    Edit:
Secondly, if you could make a measly 1% on that 5K premium you save, it turns into $5000*(1.01)^25(years)=$6412.16
    At 2%!!
    $5000*(1.02)^25(years)=$8203.03

In all honesty. If I really needed the "trunk" function on a car I would have gone with a 4runner

The things you do when your suppose to be working! Lol

Wait until the fourth gen Tacoma has Ridgeline-esque bed storage/trunk space for groceries because without them, nobody knows where to put them.

Doesn't your grocery store have a boxing option? I don't get bags, I have them fill boxes. Put them in the bed on my no slip bed mat. Boxes get recycled at town transfer station which my town actually receives money for. Grocery store has too many boxes and has to get rid of them. Win win!

Alternatively, have the wife and kids ride in the bed of the truck, and put the groceries in the back seat and passenger seat.

That's an even cheaper alternative than buying a tonneau cover or cargo net

I loop the plastic bags over the tie down cleats in the bed if I only have a few things. On the four factory cleats I can manage a ton of stuffs. For larger items I have a ratcheting cross bar from cabellas that works great. It was $20

A bed mat is a must. I got a Tonno Pro, tri fold cover (very competitively priced) and added a cargo net to hooks in the rear of the bed.
    Just like having a trunk.
