Neighbor dropped their dog off to a mobile groomer. I guess the dog moved, and the groomer nicked their neck. Had to get stitches. Not the same thing, but at least the groomer paid for it. Hoping things work out for you OP.

Prove it in court. That's how this stuff works in America. We don't have all the facts and only have one side. Sorry, people don't like to be realistic, but I am of the mind I want to know everything before I shoot my mouth off.

I love dogs prob more than most, but in an outside perspective the above is what is needed.

You are 100% right and we know it. Sucks. I have video of her balancing on a bosu ball before this happened. She rides in a kayak. Its still my word against theirs.

We have asked about cameras in the facility and filed a complaint with the police. The groomer will not answer- and im sure the footage is long gone… but they should have kept it for CYA if they had it since we told them the next day about her condition.

Because its a civil matter my local police did not want to get involved with a full report/ just took the complaint down.

Again, I am sorry and I know its hard. I would have an a friend go into the place and ask about grooming and look around and see if there is cameras etc. Even local business's as it will show you walking in with the dog but also the dog not being able to walk out.

Sorry to hear about your dog brother. Sadly this is the reason I don't allow ours to go under anyone's supervision except necessary vet visits. Anytime my girlfriend asks about a groomer I just bite the bullet and buy all the necessary equipment online so we can do it ourselves. In this day and age there is only one person that cares about your shit as much as you do...It is a sad but true reality... Hope things work out for you bud!

this makes me sadder and sadder the more i read this thread. Especially with the shadiness of a place that's supposed to take on the responsibility of loved family members. My dogs are my kids man!

    Really sorry OP.

Not sure how to upload videos. I can upload pictures without a problem though… here is a couple screen shots of her on a bosu ball.

sorry they are out of focus.

No, he's just being realistic. You have little to no legal recourse.
Unless you can get your hands on tapes from any security cameras.

I know this does nothing to help you out in this shitty situation but your best bet is seeking medical treatment for your girl and never going back to that "groomer".

I don't trust anyone, nobody touches my dog, ever.

Last time a vet was rough with my dog it didn't end well for him. All people are 100% trash and will fail you when you need them.

Yes, but its 2 steps forward 1 step back. She made a full recovery but declined 2 months later. This started before thanksgiving.

I also would not have taken her to get groomed - but my wife won a gift certificate so we said “lets treat her”

First.... Sorry to hear about your dog.

My dog was injured at the groomer as well. Nothing serious. Just a decent cut that required some attention. He can be a bit of a drama queen so we didn't think much of it. I brought it up to a couple of people at the dog park.... Their dogs had come back injured as well. It was then we realized there was a pattern.

The information was brought up on a local Facebook group and even more people had issues. Some more serious than others.

It eventually came to light that one of the newer employees was hurting, or at the very least negligent, and were fired within a week.

The owner sent out personal emails of apology. They had initially supported the employee but quickly realized what had actually been happening. I went back and forth between blaming the owner for lack of oversight and also feeling bad for a single employee torpedoing their business in a matter of weeks. We never took our dog back there and I couldn't recommend the place.

So at the very least... Report it where you can. See if others have had similar issues.

Hated having to read and hear about that. I hope the dog makes a full recovery!

Any animal being mistreated or anything inhumane done to an any infuriates me.

Just a little update. I hooked up with service dog organizations For veterans. They have helped me by sending us to a vet for a second opinion, and they are sending River and I to an animal neurologist at a local university.

I have lots of hope still.

Without proof it’s just your word saying that the groomer did it. It could just as easily be entirely unrelated to the groomer.

My beagle had to get neck/spinal surgery at about four years old with no cause for damage. He just woke up one morning in extreme pain with a ruptured disc if I remember right. Been almost nine years and he’s doing fine since the surgery.
