Grounding point around the battery area?

    Thanks for the info, I never really thought about this being an issue before but its pretty eye opening. Today, I double checked and both Warn and ARB's instructions and they both show the negative cables directly to the battery. In my mind it stands to reason that established manufacturers wouldn't instruct you to do this if they didn't know it was safe, so I am reluctant to do differently. That said I definitely will wire all lights and auxiliary equipment to a ground vs the negative battery terminal from now on.

    Thinking about it a little more; winches are high current.
    Between the small chassis jumper, multiple connections to get it there through the chassis and higher resistance of the frame vs a copper wire to the battery...voltage at the winch would be reduced, limiting capacity and heating up more.
    Yeah, probably best to follow their recommendation on that one.
