    thanks for the update

cant get the best of both worlds, the locker compensates the price of the compressor in the deal.

    Check out my build thread.
I may be interested in a rear locker and compresor if the price is right.

Sorry guys but I will be leaving the GB. I just ordered a 2015 TRD OFF Road.

Skygear, please remove me from the GB list.

    Good Luck

In for (2) RD132's and 50mm carrier bearings. I'm almost positive that's what I need for an 85 4 cyl. pickup 4x4. I hope my google-fu didn't fail me on this.

Might also be interested in adding 5.29's if/when the time comes.

I am interested in getting this for my future 4runner build.
I have a lot of questions tho.

    When does this GB close?

Gents, I have a quick question for you guys:

I've been told by a few reps from nitro gears that Toyota's stock rear e locker is great and that replacing it with an arb air locker would be a waste of money. Thoughts on that statement?

True for the most part. I have an e-locker, I am swapping out the whole axle for an 8.4 and putting an ARB in it along with gears. What's wrong with your e-locker?

    WHY are you replacing it??

You should already know the answer to be able to justify spending that much money....

Otherwise you probably are wasting a lot of money.

Im pretty sure I have the 8.4 in my TRD Sport. Do you already have another rear end or would you consider a trade?

I'm not replacing mine. I'm getting a locker for the front. I was just trying to get some input from you guys bc I noticed some folks were ordering a front and rear locker; so, I was trying to gather some knowledge.

Some do not have the rear locker. That is why. Or like myself, just prefer 2 of the same technology since I already have OBA and I know the reliability of the air lockers.

Another aspect is this. I am out of warranty by toyota. If I break something, or something breaks that warranty would have covered. I get nothing. Even if I had an extended service agreement. Most do not go over the 150k mark. I'll hit that in the next week or so.

With ARB/ Air Locker, If I kill it. They warranty it. So that is the way I am looking at this. An INVESTMENT in an EXTENDED WARRANTY that I would have not been able to get elsewhere.

Another substantial investment is going to be the front axels. Will be getting the RBS (?) versions since my boots are shot and will potentially need to replace both of the fronts anyways due to the extended period of time I have driven on them dry already. If I kill them, there is a warranty on them and replacement is part of that. I'll keep the old ones, and see if they are salvageable. Keeping them as spares or exchanging them as cores for another product.

Most things that I acquire, I make sure there is a warranty and that I am familiar with it thoroughly enough to knows the ins and outs of it. Investments into the future. I do this in clothes, shoes, gear, appliances, and other things.

If there is a chance you could break it or it failing. Between 2 similar items one with a better warranty more expensive, I buy the better warranty item every time. My DYSON HOT COLD just had issues. Got it replaced for free and was upgraded to the latest version that was more money at no additional cost. Now, my warranty period starts over again.

Look at things from all angles. I pride myself in that. An abstract view.

^ Well said. Also note that you should check / change the diff fluid more often. I;ve been changing mine annually now since once in a while the ARB will puke up some diff oil. Idk how much exactly but better safe than sorry.
Already have one I got for free :D But my e-locker rear axle won't work for you if you are 4WD, it has 4.56s, you would need the front to match.

interesting... and as someone who used to work for a manufacturer and costed and priced warranties - I generally avoid them and don't worry about them. now every situation is different... however I play the odds and have saved far more money over the years that way. warranties are simply very expensive insurance that odds are you won't need. again... I'm sure there's times that the incremental cost is negligible and it makes sense.... every situation is on it's own merits.
