Even with the cb or fuse if it is not as close to the batter as possible you still run the risk of shorting the power cable to fuse block.. am I right lol?

    Mickey,

I'm assuming that nearly everyone will be installing their fuse block out under their hood, behind the factory fuse block on the driver's side of the car (the black box in this photo)

Personally, if you do that, and run your power wire from the positive terminal, along the left side (from the front of the car) of the factory fuse box, as I plan to do, you likely will not need a fuse or circuit breaker for it. If you mount it anywhere else, however, you should fuse near the battery (along the inside fender behind the factory ground would be a good location).

    Hope that answers the question.

Oh, and to anyone who notices, the previous pic I posted last week that had my battery bungee'd in place - I GOT THE FACTORY MOUNT BACK IN!!! No more gerry-rigged battery install :)

ya i figured that people who are mounting in the cab or in tool boxes in the bed are more likely to need the fuse or cb since there is more chance of shorting out somewhere.. thanks again!!

Please add me to the list, sounds like a good project to start since I'm adding lights and a few other things shortly.

Since I already have a circuit breaker for my in cab inverter, I'll be rewiring all of my stuff to the fuse block, then just reusing the circuit breaker for the fuse block, even though my stuff will all be under the hood, right next to the OEM fuse box. Might as well put it to use :)

I'm excited to start this project already. I already have 6 wires all crowding the positive battery terminal. 2 more days until ordering!!!!

I am too... I just wish I had a mount plate ready. I'm gonna be rewiring the main wires going to the battery - power going to alternator and factory fuse box & big upgrade to the ground. Planning on 4 awg from Alt to batt & batt to ground, and hopefully to the fuse box but we'll see

Yea I picked up some aluminum from a local steel shop for $5. Going to cut it with a band saw and get this thing ready for when the fuse block comes in the mail. I have some left over wiring from my old audio install, so I'm good to go!

    Answer:

Time for GB to end?? I was thinking 8pm PST? I'll do a final list update at that point and review the list to ensure that I got everyone on it. That way Will can PM out the coupon codes first thing Wednesday morning and we can start paying then.

Will, if you read this, does this line of thinking work for you?

    Yes

No kidding... I was definately stoked when the first reply I got was a vendor offering up services for the GB, and then again when it hit 20 ppl in it's first "official" GB phase day.
