Group buy: Pop N Lock Tailgate Lock (Ends April 08, 2009)

So let me tell you all a quick story. Back in February people were asking for a group buy for pop n lock. I had just gotten surgery, thus missed my spring season. I had just started to love this site and wanted to try and do something good for the fellow members. I told my mom and she warned me of two things:

1. I will probably lose money
2. It is going to be a headache

Why do I ever doubt her wisdom? However where I draw the line is when someone calls my mom and threatens her. Here is my number (703) 674-6315. Anyone has any more questions, issues, need to vent or send hate mail, my text inbox and phone line is open so take it up with me, not my mom.

Now fast forward to now. I finally receive 5 boxes of 12 locks. I am no longer sitting around unable to do anything since I have recovered from surgery and am once again a full time athlete and student, having to deal with judicial action from the school as well as participating in necessary design projects. If you think you could have done a better job than I am then you should have thought about that in February when no one was willing to set this up.

I know I have not done the best job with this, but believe me I am trying. It is a little bit more time consuming than I initially thought to box up 45+ locks, label them, then get USPS to take them. I have had to drop this a little bit on my priorities because my grades have been less than stellar this semester and I have had the flu. I am very sorry.

To those who have been supportive, thank you very very much. You justify all this added stress.

To those who are upset, I understand completely and am very sorry but know I have the locks and they will be in your possession shortly.

To those who threaten my mother, you have ruined all my good intentions with setting this up and this will probably be my last post on here for a while other than updates to get this group buy finished.

I am going to try to get them out tomorrow, and if not then on Friday

 

All it takes is a couple seconds to explain a situation... It's no fair to just fall off the earth for 2 weeks and not respond to anyone.

As for threatening someones mom over this, lame. Who would do something like that.

 

Dgerm, does this mean I can send the PayPal payment finally and get mine shipped with the rest? You haven't been responding to PMs, but told me originally that you'd take care of mine with the group...

Who the fuck threatened your mother. That's extremely dumb and makes no sense.

Daniel, you know that alot of us are unhappy, let's just get this done so all our headaches can ease.

Yeah...some people are assholes and calling someones mom to try and expedite things is definitely lame. Its just too damn easy these days to find someones contact information (which is why I knew this was not a scam and that you'd show up eventually).

That said, dgerm...YOU dropped the ball on this group buy and THAT is why people got upset. Pop and Lock were slow in their development but you failed in providing updates. Had you posted an update or comment every few days, it would be a lot easier to deal with the unknown wait. Even if it's just to say "i'm sorry this is taking so long". It became your responsibility to do so when you agreed to accept $3000+ from complete strangers. And I am venturing a safe guess that you DID NOT lose money on this deal...
Anyway, I hope this was a life lesson for you and you can learn from the experience.

And I'm obviously very glad to hear they are shipping "tomorrow or friday" - I just hope you can stick to your words this time.

Glad to hear that you are OK. Second whoever called your mom..I have my suspicions about who it may have been. That was lame, his mom has nothing to do with this. Hope they get shipped out by the end of the week.

X2 on the 8520s. We haven't had any updates on these at all.

 

I am all for getting what I paid for, but that's a bit over the line in IMO. Calling someone's MOM over this small amount of money and a damn tailgate lock is just ridiculous. Don't let it sour you on the whole community. Not everyone lives and dies by this GB - no hard feelings at all if you get it done. We just want to receive the locks you still have to ship and close this thing out as badly as you do.

Glad to see you are able to do an update finally and not somewhere sick or dead. Always remember that GB's are a pain is the ass even when they go well......and a nightmare when they don't. It's a real bitch to do one when you have a ton on your plate no less.

Better luck next time man, and no one should hold this one against you hopefully.

 

It's been a few months since the end of this GB and some of us are still there behind you... that doesn't mean that they will appreciate being ignored. Glad that you are still there Hopefully we can end this soon and put this one behind us?? There are no bed feelings here and I would think that alot of feel the same way in saying that you have had your share of headaches in dealing with P&L.
With that said any updates on the shipping? Today??? Tomorrow??? Thanks

Still with ya Daniel, keep the tips and get your Mom some lunch or even flowers to help overcome the BS bestowed upon her.
I await your word on the 8520's when you have time to come up for air.

 

They have all shipped with the exception of 3 which I will deal with individually.

The P&L office is closed for the weekend so I will send maureen an Email to see if I get a response this weekend, and if not I will call her monday. From the last price list she sent me it looks like the 8520s will be available color matched.
