Broke my right femur in April of 2014 in Farmington, NM racing dirtbikes. 5hr long race and had about 15min left. No place for a helicopter to land since i was up on a hill and the EMTs didn't have any pain meds. Once medics showed up, they put me in traction right away. For those of you who don't know what it is, it looks like a crutch that they wedge in your groin and strap your foot down on the other side and they crank on the ratchet to separate the fracture. That was the worst pain of my life. I've gone through a decent amount of stuff and that one takes the cake for sure. Went into surgery right away and had a 17" rod put in with 2 screws going into my hip and 2 right above my knee.

Oh that finger hangin' by a thread... brings back bad memories of when my neighbor stuck his hand into a jammed snowblower - he ended up the same way for all four fingers. And I got to collect 'em and bring 'em to the hospital. Good times.

My contribution is pretty lightweight compared to some of this other stuff. Still, pretty f-ing painful. Brought to you courtesy of 16" softball league.

Not very gory, but break in your hiking boots before hiking for 22 miles. This was 5 miles in. Hurt like hell for the next 17 miles.

Mole skin and duct tape should be sold together, my opinion.

Small dog, just the right angle and gravity took care of the rest.

I know this comment is old, but a guy I play hockey with in a local beer league has a "thumb toe thing" lol....he chopped his thumb off as a kid when he was cutting firewood. The hospital removed one of his big toes and sewed it onto his hand where his thumb used to be. He plays hockey just fine; skates well minus a big toe and holds a hockey stick well with a thumb toe thing, haha

According to him, some hospitals have an entire ward dedicated to this exact procedure and he's actually gone there several times to help put patient's minds at ease who are candidates for it. He's a "thumb toe thing" sponsor, if you will

I recently took a header off a jeep and broke my ass, well pelvis actually. I'll see if I can grab the x-rays next week when I go back to the hospital.

This is from last summer. Went camping at one of the local lakes and my Mom and her bf Denis came along with us. So although Denis has a quad this was the first time I went out riding with him. We hit the trails which often in my area are trails running through the mountains with trees all over, not a big wide open area. Anyhow I was in the lead and noticed that I hadn't seen him behind me for a minute or so, so I pull over and wait for him to catch up. I shut my quad off and could hear his idling down the hill a bit so I turn around to see what he is doing and when I pull up he has a huge branch hanging out of his neck. To make matter worse before I get to him he pulled the damn thing out :facepalm:and a few shots of blood pumped out of his neck like it was coming from a garden hose.

I quickly tied a shirt off around his neck, while trying to find a balance and not choke him to death lol. We were about 30 minutes from camp and I honestly wondered if I would be bringing a corpse back. Luckily he stayed conscious for the ride back, I was worried he would pass out and fall off the back of my quad.

Here's a pic from the hospital... it actually looked worse than that in person. Doctors said the branch went in deep and crushed one an artery but luckily didn't tear it open.

    Denis01.jpg

And after they stitched him up.

    Denis02.jpg

A month or so later he sold his quad.
