The neighbor that owns a huge local distribution hub just told me that they are predicting that they should have us back up by sometime Tuesday…

I just logged in to say that mine is “tentatively” on. It’s been on and off about a half dozen times in the past half hour.

This is exactly why I'm looking at a dual fuel generator. I hope this works out for you guys.

LPG generator is where it’s at, if it’s a big one fuel pumps will go down and you can il t store so much for so long. LPG lasts forever and you can always find a shop that’ll still hook you up. I live near an Air Force Base and when these kooks PCS they’ll give the bottles away, I try to snatch up everyone I can get my hands on and take them to an RV store and get them refilled.

This is the one I have, I have never put gasoline in it. I will only run it on LP. No gumming, you dont need to run it every month or two, just connect and disconnect the battery, I probably start it twice a year. I have 11 of the gas grill size propane tanks and 3 of the bigger 60lb tanks. Any chance I get to get tanks for free I take them and bring them into a tank swap place to get new tanks. I dont want to run into the issue you are having and lose my fridge and freezers of food.

It comes with everything to hook up to your LP tanks. Has a regulator, hose, etc. Also comes with all the plugs you need. I am back feeding the house through the drier plug, all you have to get is the cable in the length you need, then pick your plugs to put on and you're all set.
LP is much quieter as well, which is a nice bonus.

It's go 5 stars from me.

I used to do a similar backfeed process. I have since had an electrician friend wire up a direct outlet to my panel in the basement. I can run the genny on my porch and simply plug it into my house from outside.
Learned my lesson after 5 days of no power from Hurricane Sandy.
