That is exciting. I had one of the street legal Yamaha 250's they offered a few years ago (WR250R or something?) and loved that thing. The 250 did not love highway (it would do ~85+ but was not happy about it) but was a blast in the dirt and for commuting around town. A 500 would make the road miles that much more enjoyable!

Not planning on too much public road riding but time will tell.

Divided to give up on the Inspire 1 and ordered a Mavic Pro today. I don't really need a commercial drone anymore and the Mavic packs up into such a small footprint.

That just happened. New carrier bearing and CVs are here. Going to get transmission and power steering fluid for a complete flush.

Still love this Toyota and am looking forward to the next hundred grand.

Hey GT, curious to get your opinion:
Since flippac is no longer in production the tacoma habitat seems to be the closest thing currently available.
If it had been available when you purchased your flippac would you have made the same decision?

this is likely my next major step in the never-ending build process

I don't know, I know you can "rent to buy" on the internet but I'd imagine that if you committed to buying it through a program like that you'd end up paying way too much.

FRP went into receivership - so I'm told - and the new owners have apparently been putting some consideration into building them as well.

As to the FlipPac vs. Habitat arguement that's hard to say as the Habitat is a bit more expensive than the FlipPac. The back folding bit is neat but I don't think it's the better of the two choices, just whatever you prefer. For some the engineering of the Habitat really gets them going as the additional sleeping options make it more useable for three and four sleeping inside. If it's just you and the bride that won't matter. Ease of use is obviously an issue as well as weight ratings. When I had my camper interior I would literally just step up into the FlipPac and it's bed is rated to support 1,000 pounds. The getting into the tent procedure is different for the Habitat and the bed is rated - I think - for around 600 pounds.

Another option that allot of people forget about is the Wildernest camper shell. My father had one and I loved it and I was actually at the end of a nearly three year hunt for one when I finally gave up and bought the FlipPac.

A perk for you is that people are selling FlipPac campers allot now to change out for a trailer or Habitat so you may be able to score a deal. Odds are that you'd have to cross the Mississippi River to find one.

At the local trailer sales and service store getting the Australian spec 7 pin wiring converted to US spec.

Just heard from Austin that one of the lockers that I bought over a year ago for the LandCruiser is the wrong size. FML...

I know I asked about it a while back but what are your thoughts on how the truck handles with 35s? I'm at that fork in the road where I have to get new tires and am seriously considering going with the Mcneil fenders and 315/75R16s. Gears would be done at the same time but I'm trying to figure out if its worth it on our trucks or whether I should stick with a 285/75R16. To best honest I don't think I would need 35s, it would just make bouncing down rocky trails a little bit more comfortable.

I've never had any problems with 35's. they aren't for everyone so your trepedation is warranted. I built my truck with the mindset that it will always be mid-travel and that I wanted the truck to be built 20% more capable than I would ever demand of it.

I've said it here and I'll repeat it. I have an auto transmission with the 4.56 gears. If I had a manual this would be perfect. But since I have the auto I regret not going with 4.88 gears.

But you also have that Flippac... I wonder how my 4.56 gears with 34s will handle...

Just because and only to confuse more people about what gears to choose. 35s and 488s suck, especially when heavy. 488 and 37s is a much better combo
