Okay trusted NorCal Tacoma Buddies I'm having a debate with a friend on whether or not cumin belongs in Guacamole.

    What do you think?

Add a third option for a taste test and then you’ll get my vote.

Sometimes use adobo seasoning in the guac. Have not heard of putting cumin in guac. May have to try it.

So, which side of the argument are you on. Cuz it seems that cumin has no business in guac...(at least as far as your poll implies)

I think there's no hard and fast rule. Food in general is pretty subjective.

However, if someone asked if they could put cumin in the guac where I work I would say no.
When I make stuff I tend to think "what can I remove from this recipe" rather than "what can I add to this recipe". Simple is usually better.

Is it right or wrong? I don't know. It's personal preference.

If someone else made guacamole with cumin I would thank them and enjoy it.

Cumin is best if bloomed in some hot oil, so no. No cumin in guacamole

I was just thinking about this. Do people add raw cumin to their guac?

Bloom them in avocado oil? You don't need much oil. Or toast whole seeds and grind them?

I'm still in the maybe sometimes cumin camp myself...well it's okay if someone else does it but you won't find me doing it.
