Guess I’ve come full circle.

Well my first vehicle was a Toyota 1973 sr5 and then all of my cars have been Honda’s 87’,91’,2014’band trucks were 73’ sr5, 92’ Chevy s10, 95’ Chevy 1500 and a 1968 GMC 2500 custom camper special and now a 2018 Tacoma TRD Sport DB/LB.

I decided to join this forum because it was my ‘go to’ when I was researching what kind of truck to buy (other than a Toyota) forgive me. Then it was what model, trim etc. Anyway questions or conserns where quickly found and resolved here. When I had my 68’ gmc I joined that forum and it became instrumental in resolving problems or questions that I wasn’t able to find on the open net. A ‘truck club’ of members with your truck makes a huge difference when you have any issues are questions. So in short thank you to all members that post and I look forward to communicating and sharing info in the future.

PS. My avatar is me working up in the Mohave desert in the dead of winter in a solar field. I didn’t want to post a pick of my brand new truck because a beautiful as it is as of now it would just look like an advertisement.

Congrats on your new Tacoma!

 

Ya bro’s the first mod is moderate. Going with just a factory swap on muffler to a magnaflow. I appreciate the straight through design and after about 400miles break in I love the lower tone growl it produces. Not gonna mess with piping cause I’ve read on this forum the cons about dumping before the rear tire and and far as pipe size goes I firgure the engineers who built it know best. I understand there’s a scale of HP and MPG and generally if you gain one you compromise another so “they” want to have their trucks have the highest HP am done best MPG on the market and this is the best for now. I realize without serious $$$ upgrades I’m not gonna see more than 5HP optimistically on the magnaflow but it’s more for sound and as far as the K&N stock box air filter I just bought , after years of using them I came across an old article on BOBTHEOILGUY about air filters and the myths and marketing so for what it’s worth a put the stock OEM back on and the brand new K&N in the box on my shelve.

So in short ( yes that’s short for me as you’ll find out over the years to come)

I’m gonna put on a magnaflow muffler and stick with the original pipes and tip. Not sure which model magnaflow I’ll get yet. I’ve used the same muffler guy for years and trust his opinion but if anybody has an option on magnaflow for my toy I’m open. Thx
