Guess I will have to wait for 2022 to get what I want...

Finally decided to get a new truck. But TRD Sport, access cabs in Cement no longer seem to exist for 2021. All they want to sell are 4 doors it seems. Too late to order a 2021, too soon to order a 2022. Bought a new SR5 4X4 in 1985. And my current 1995 T100 I purchased new / now has 200k. (And runs fine) And it seems to be worth around 10k?. Shocking....

Anyway, just wanted to ask if I should try and find something close to what I want? Or hold out for 2022? Almost bought one in 2016/2017 but trans and vibration issues scared me away. I believe those issues have been addressed by Toyota?

Also, can someone compare the ride / handling of the new SR5 to the TRD Sport? (not the off road TRD) Thanks! For about the same price, the TRD Sport seems like the way to go / over the SR5. Opinions appreciated. Added front and rear sway bars to the T100 when new. Actually corners pretty well for a truck. On its 2nd set of Bilstein's. 2nd timing belt/wp and 2nd rad. Just ready for a new truck. 26 yrs is a long time... to be in the same one...

Seems like a no brainer to keep looking to see if you find a ‘21 you like, but to be prepared to order a ‘22 when the time comes. Why restrict yourself to just one option now if both are feasible. And in the meantime you can test drive the SR5 and the Sport to see which ride you like better.

I would wait until the next gen comes out. Maybe by then the prices will come down to reasonable levels. The automobile market will continue to be crazy high into next year. There will be a line of people waiting for the 2022 Tacoma and the high demand will make the prices go up.

I load a lot of motorcycles in the bed, and off road next to zero these days. So the added height is a negative for me.
Also not interested in a tow package or lower gears. Have waited 26 years. So another 1yr or two is no big deal.
Another bummer, Am in Calif. and have been told 50 state emissions keeps the pool to draw from small. Who knows.
Also, not super keen on paying sticker or above...

You could not get any of the options you want, and go a head and get a 4cyl SR.

Good luck. I ultimately decided to hold off for a ‘22 as well. Wanted an OR in cement, but it won’t be offered in 22 so planning on going with Lunar Rock.

    Hey and Welcome

That t100 is nice. I would wait until you see the truck that you see and say “that is the truck I want”. You have a nice truck, no rush. Don’t settle. Get exactly what you want. Don’t FOMO, test drive and once you like something you will know. Then get it, I would prob wait 2022 at this point , but a 2021 May pop up

Shouldn't be any difference in height, gears would only differ if you opt for a manual transmission.

Thanks, was not the same in the past. My sons 2000 TRD pre runner is much taller than other 2000 Tacoma's.
Also, has lower RR ratio. A tow package does the same. Am looking for tall gears. Unlike most people here.

And what are the 2022 ext color options? Anyone know?

All new V6 Tacoma's come standard with tow package, no difference in gears.

Was on a bike ride today and drove by the dealer where I got mine. 4 Tacomas on the lot. All used. All selling between $36k and $40k with miles ranging from 8k to 20k and years 2019 to 2020. Window stickers were listed at higher so they were discounting.

The dealer had nothing else on the lot except a used Tundra. Zero cars.

    Insane out there.

BTW to OP, take your time, do some test driving. You are going to likely pay full MSRP. Get exactly what you want and place a factory allocation order. Worth the wait. You already waited 26 years. Take another 4-6 months. I took about 8 months from time I got serious to the time I took delivery. So glad I placed and order, got exactly what I wanted, and had my 17 year old Honda Element to hold me over.

I would assume the same base colors except Cement is going away and they will be offering the Lunar Rock.

Pro exclusive color is Electric Lime Metallic and then the other 3 colors are White, MGM, and Black.

Not too sure until they release the lineups but that would be my guess.

Found (2) trucks that I am looking for in Calif. Both want 3k +over MSRP. Told them to kiss my azz. (In so many words)
    (2) door sport in Cement. One was 39,500 one 40k. Should be around 34k.
Might drive the T100 chick magnet another 26 years if they keep fking around like this.

Not sure what your situation in life is but have you considered a flying and buying within a reasonable distance. Could make for a nice road trip and break in period. If you have the means I would give it a whirl and find a dealership that is willing to make a sale without all that extra markup.

Good idea, but has to be communist Calif. approved. Am told not all are? 50 state? Not sure I could buy out of state without additional $$$. Only 2 left in the state. Per Longo Toyota/ Largest dealer around.
