My timing belt has been a thing I have been looking at doing. But while switching vacuum lines saw the sticker for timing belt replacement. First sticker it was done at 55k miles back in 05'. Cant tell the last time it was done. Or any guesses when they would have done it again after 55k miles? Truck currently has 117k miles.

To me it looks like the date might be 4/9/15 but I have no clue about the milage.

Toyota wants you to change it every 90,000 miles. He did his at 55,000 which means he cared about that truck. I know cause I changed mine at 57,000 miles and I REALLY care about mine:) You don't need to change yours again for a while. Maybe at 145,000.

At that mileage the engine needed to come apart so it was done while it was off.

As far as I can tell mine has never been done at 225,000 miles one of these days

In 08 it had 99857 miles and I bought it in January with 115k miles. That's what I thought I see as well. So it maybe had 105k or so miles when done.

date is 4/8(or 9)/15 (slashes not dashes for separator), and then over 11x,000 but that bump in the sticker allowed it to be worn away easier (unless a doctor wrote it, in which case you'd never know :) )

and they must have either beat the hell out of it or highway drove the shizz. honestly we can't tell what year it is, you have 2005 listed in your description but this is a 96-04 engine, if it's an '03 then that's 55k in 2 years

This is a 2001 Tacoma Double Cab with the 3.4 engine. Have not updated my ride yet. I am getting the records from the 2 dealerships listed on the carfax to see what was all done and when it was done. Just curious if they did other things when they were changing the timing belt or not. So hopefully I can know something or atleast timing on when it was done.

I changed my timing belt for the first time at 207,000 miles. Belt looked okay, but the water pump was shot...

If it breaks I just have it towed home replace any broken parts back to work .

If i’m not mistaken most Toyota/Lexus vehicles are 9 years or 90k, I would change it based upon the 14 years of age. Not worth risking it.

You should be fine for awhile. And if it breaks it won't harm your engine. It's a non- interference engine.I changed mine at 130k only because water pump was going bad. And as you see by other post, guys over 200k and still going. Drive it and don't worry about the belt. Your good to go.

Can always pull the timing belt cover back and inspect the belt visually too, if you're concerned about it due to age and not necessarily mileage.

My 04 has 77k on it and still the original timing belt, the belt still looks good so I'm just going to wait until the 90k mark to get it done.

It's odd that it was changed at 55k, that's nearly half what the factory recommends. Maybe they were in there doing other work and decided to replace it anyway. Even if you put that 55k in a single year, that still doesn't exceed the 90k or 9 years the factory recommends.

Being a non-interference engine, it doesn't make a lot of sense to replace them more often unless you specifically suspect something is wrong. Aside from possibly getting stranded on the highway, there is very little risk to the engine if the belt lets go.

Some people just keep running the same belt until it lets go. I wouldn't go that far, but I don't think it's a good use of my time to replace them more often that factory spec, either.

The manual states 90k or 12 years (10? Or 15?) - whichever comes first. I'm forgetting the exact passing years....

Age is much more of a factor than milage for timing belts, especially with a hydraulic tensioner. Id say every 10 years with an inspection along the way is a good rule of thumb. Like others have said the non-interference offers peice of mind.
