You’re telling me you haven’t modified not ONE thing on your vehicle that isn’t “per manufactures” standards? I know this is different than my porky taco, but we can take this thing as far as you want under your “What-About-Loss-Of-Life” standard

Look, man... my wife is a cop... A victim of a hit and run ( someone hit their parked car at night) asked my wife if they could collect the glass headlight shards and “reconstruct” the light so that they can trace what car it belonged to... no joke....

I think you are missing the point. Say your truck is 5-600 lbs over it's GVWR, and you rear end someone. Correct that there is no extra fault, but if your insurance company determines you were over weight they might null their coverage in the accident.

Meaning you (the rear ender) would be personally liable for any damages or injuries caused. Big difference in paying your deductible because you caused an accident, and being on the hook for potentially a lot of money.

FWIW, I think the taco is well capable of handling far above it's rated capacity. But if you go above it, be prepared for any eventuality.

Law enforcemene isn't taking your vehicle to a scale and absent circumstances I can't even think of, neither is insurance.

No doubt. Take into account that I have experience towing and driving much heavier vehicles, I drive responsibly. So many factors. But like I said, under this train of thought, we can be on the hook for ANYTHING. Modified wheels, tires, suspension components installed in a garage with help of friends. Window tinting, HID headlights, non DOT approved forward facing lighting that isn’t capped or covered while operating the vehicle on a public road, highway or thoroughfare ....

I can tell you first hand

Pizza Delivery guy in town was making his delivery. Little girl runs from a park to her home across the street and the pizza guy couldn’t stop in time and hit the little girl. She was dragged to the park and was leaking bloody fluid from her ears (bad bad sign).

Know what law enforcement did? They tested the vehicles brakes and at three different speeds to rule that out... were the aftermarket wheels, rubber band tires, and all the other mods noted? Nah... just the skid mark lengths at each speed tested.

In Washington state you can weigh at any state truck scale, if they are closed they turn the display around so you can see it from outside. I don't remember if I've ever weighed at one that's open but they'll probably tell you your weight.

Dude, everywhere... you can’t say anything without someone having to REALLY make it a point to show you 1. How much they know 2. How wrong you are or 3. How offended they are.

LOL Read this after posting and realized that all three get me my wife LOL
