I do recommend driving it some to warm up the rear end. That way more contaminants will come out with the fluid.

I changed mine at the recommended 30k interval and the fluid looked decent. Very little floating in it and just a bit of metal sludge on the magnet.

I'll hit it again at 60k.

06's dont have drl's I think that started in like 08. They're is a mod you can do to add them though. My truck is exactly the same as yours. When I first start it up in the morning it immediately revs up to about 2200 rpms then drops down to about 1k after about 30 secs or so then eventually down to around 800. I thought maybe this is how its supposed to be but do plan to clean my maf this weekend.

If you have a 5 speed manual then I highly recommend you switch out to Redline MT90. Mine shifts so much easier & smoother after making the switch. For my rear diff I just run Supertech 75-90w full synthetic or Chevron Delo makes a full synthetic for like $5.99 a quart.

Oh and I use one of these pumps for adding new diff or transmission fluid in hard to reach areas.

Mines an auto. I am pretty sure I have Day time running lights. They are the yellow/fog lights. They used to be on anytime the truck was on now they aren't. They still work if I push the lock button on the key fob they flash.

I am in the process right now. I added a clear plastic tube over the bottle and its working great. My question is they say to fill it until it starts dribbling out the fill hole. Should I leave the fill plug off and let it completly dribble out? Or once I notice it should I just close it up?

I just plug it once it starts dribbling. I feel like its like water, once it starts dribbling it sorta siphons itself out and more comes out than you'd want (I have no science to back any of this up)

Thanks u guys are the best. I let it drip for a minute or two. A very small amount would slowly leak out. I think it should be fine. I was surprised the oil itself didn't seem horrible. Yeah it was black but I only found one very small metal shaving. Like very very small on the drain plug and also the drain plug itself had a kind of greasy sludge on it. Maybe doing changing it so often really isn't needed? I am about to go take it for a spin.

I was only able to find one grease zerk on the front u-joint along the driveshaft. Not sure if there are any others. I am happy though the truck would make a sort of clunk noise when going from Park to Drive and that is now gone. :)

The only bolts on the "propeller shaft" I could see were towards the back of the drive shaft where it meets the rear diff and they seem plenty tight to me not to mention rusted solid. So I don't think that's anything to worry about.

Well just drove it and can't say it made an noticeable difference. But I do feel better having changed it. It's still has a pretty strong rumbling/shaking when giving it gas and steering wheel and gas pedal have a shakiness to them also.... Oh well
