On a passage like the one Booger is trying to learn I usually use hybrid picking , the pick for the bass notes and the three free fingers for the rest .

I'm not very good at it, but I hold the pick with very little of the point exposed- maybe 1/8". With a moderate to hard stroke I let the edge of the thumb hit the string... is this what you're talking about?
It's a little hit or miss for me, but then I was never a shredder.

I was workin on pinchin a loaf earlier.
I love me some pinch harmonics. Alot of it depends on the amount of distortion as well.
I'll try and get a vid up sometime of my technique. Its pretty simple. Its just that perfect combo of pick and side of your thumb. Keep messin with it, it will come to ya. And when you get it down good you'll. Be goin "oh yea".

LOL.. ya, that was shredding in Russkiy. If that was the best I could do I believe I'd take up playing Nintendo..

My style is a bit of Santana/Clapton/Dickie Betts. I'm a lefty playing right handed- a handicap that means I'll never get it quite right.

Ya, Thunderstruck is a crowd pleaser--- with a tumbler of scotch in one hand and the guitar still tripping away. I don't even try to touch SRV, though... that stuff's sacred.

I dont think those are pinch harmonics Larry. I think they are natural harmonics from open strings.

Infact after listening to it a few more times, I'm certain they are natural.

The SE line is made in Korea, I believe. List on a Semi Hollow SE is around $680. I had the Tremonti SE that I paid $450 for in 04, and was thoroughly impressed with the quality and playability, as I am with the Semi-Hollow. Really a great guitar for the money.
