Lol right? They get enough from us elsewhere so I'm glad our registration is cheap compared to some places.

My work 2016 F150 was $573 last year. Now you see why I purposely bought a cheap ass SR. Counties in South Carolina will bend you over in a heartbeat if you own a truck. They claim they go by "value" but they never say where they determine that "value" because I've asked them to explain to me how they come to their tax figure. They can't explain it, I think they just make shit up.

Do the states have vehicle inspections? Every 2 years I have to get my truck inspected by a certified shop as well, it's only $25 but they'll fail you if u have illegal tint/cracked windshield etc..

South Carolina doesn't. They used to stop charging tax after 10 years but they found out people would buy older cars and hold on to them and they'd lose money so they stopped that. Politicians really are the devils spawn.

$377 for mine. Not too bad. Down in actual Tacoma its something like $1,200 for my buddies Tundra. They hit them with some new bullshit tax last year

Anyone in CA with a camper shell ditch the commercial tags? If I get pulled over with a platform, drawers, and my dogs back there will they give me a ticket?

I think you need a toilet. I mean your truck does to show its a living space and not commercial. But you should try at the DMV, a member here got lucky with that, I asked but they said no since mines just a shell with a temporary platform.

My understanding is that if you have a camper shell you can ditch the commercial registration but you're not supposed to haul anything in the bed after that.

Ya my jaw dropped when I saw it.

I guess that’s why Colorado calls it the Department of Revenue.
