A regular gun magnet isn’t going to be strong enough probably to hold your firearm from behind the dash. The only thing that will as someone else already recommended is a neodymium magnet. However they are very strong and can cause issues if mounted too close to electronic devices.

Best place I found was in the passenger seat back pocket. Easy to just reach around and grab it.

90% of the time I prefer it on my person or in my range bag. But there are some times/places where it's really convenient on the side of the center console. We make these for that. I just leave a cheap IWB holster there all the time.

Also makes a great place to store my handheld radio, wireless winch controller, small first aid kit, etc...

I have a 2nd gen but figured 3rd gens would have a similar setup. I’ve practiced my setup at the range and it’s fast and easy to get to, no mounts needed. I stuffed a usp45 in the plastic beside my right leg, it sits firm and it’s secure, doesn’t fall out even while heavy off-roading. If someone did a smash and grab, I doubt they would see the pinky extension or even knew what it was. Works for me

Please tell me that's pointing forward, so in the event you actually need to use it, and your adrenalin is pumping you can mistakenly squeeze the trigger and shoot the car in front of you.

It’s pointing rearward. This is why I actively train with it at the range, I know it’s unorthodox. The draw is kind of hard to explain but basically I pull the pinky extension out, gun goes upside down, and I flip it upright. At no point does it flag me or any passenger (maybe the back middle passenger but that’s rare I have that many people) so I’m ok with it. I carry a gun on me in the truck 99% of the time so this is more of an emergency, stranded out in the woods type gun. I carry a spare mag of 45 super for bears, that stuff is hot! Equivalent to .357 mag lol
