I've worked on both sides. Some request the finished model and will guarantee the finished model is within tolerance. Some request the finished model as well as a flat pattern. Either way it is the designer's responsibility to get the bend radius correct, both for stack-up and stress related reasons.

Most places have standard work for this, but you do need to give the shop something reasonable or else you will end up with either something overly expensive/unnecessary or something that can't be built.

I thought about doing this myself, but an AR with optics won't fit in that spot. I've got an EOTech EXPS2-2 with a magnifier on mine and a Grip Pod. By far the best mod that I've done to my truck has been to pull out the useless plastic cubbies from behind the rear seat. I can fit my gun case which holds the rifle, 5 mags, a bore snake, gun oil, backup batteries for the optic, and a few other things behind there. I can get to it just as quick but only have to grab the one gun case with everything in it to bug out and get the job done. It's not fancy or pretty but it's highly functional, retains easy access, and is completely hidden.

im assuming your talking about a soft case?? thats too bad it cant fit with optics...might just have to drop down to irons like @Mike330R . I really like the idea of having a lockable door to it

Yes. It's a soft case but it works really well for my purposes. Even though the smaller side of the rear seat is on the driver's side, I still have no problem maneuvering the case in and out with only dropping the rear side of the back seat. Full, quick access from that point on. During the hunting season I also keep my bird gun back there too. Lots of room and even with a 26 inch barrel on the Browning A5, it still has no problems getting in and out with only dropping the driver's side portion of the rear seat.

Been dragging my feet on this one.
Maybe 1/4" was a bad choice...

1/4" yikes, might be overkill. What does it weigh?

    14lbs. It'll work for prototype. I'll probably re-cut it. 1/8 or 3/16"

I think 1/8" would work. It only needs to support 20-25 lbs.

LOL. I'm telling you, 12 gauge to 1/8" would be about right.

Shame this doesn't look like it would fit an Access Cab. Are those slots molle or just sort of similar looking?

I've got one of the Utility Package cabs (AC with no rear seats) and I have been trying to get a good molle system in my truck for a long time now. I bought one of the molle racks for the back panel, but the noise was unacceptable. Removing the plastic "blank" back panel takes all the insulation with it, and then there's no really good way to add any extra insulation like dynamat back.

Thinking about maybe drilling that panel or adding velcro or something.

Anyways I'm rambling now. Looks cool!

I have a folder 16" AR in the cubby behind the rear seat. Fits in there well with the seat back and locked.

In canada, if you want to use a gun rack, the whole truck must be locked in a safe to be legal. :canada:

    ICON8 Lift -285s. upTOPoverland rack.

Not the best pic, but crossovers have always served me well for tools and gear and retain space below for longer items. I never have considered them too secure but this one has been water tight.
