    How and where do you secure your side arm in your Tacoma? There's some online but I think I have more of a mod in mind.

    IMO the ideal safe would be welded or bolted to the frame. It would have biometric and keypad locking/unlocking capabilities. And of course it would be within arms reach of sitting in the drivers seat.

    :rofl::sorry::rofl:

    I've seen those center console safes and they're probably the closest to what I'm picturing in me head. It may be the easiest option.

    Somebody on this site has theirs mounted to the back of the center console. Looks cool.

    Cool. So if you have to run into a Federal building or a school or airport you just carry it in?

    There are some ideas in this thread I started when looking for something similar.

    http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/2nd-gen-tacomas/22608-glovebox-lock-vehicle-vault.html

    This is EXACTLY the safe I purchased and use. I got it from Costco.com. It bolts into the truck (you can't remove w/o being able to open the safe). It's pretty solid and you need a combination to get into it. You give up a little room in the center console, but it's worth it to me.

    You can't fit a large gun in this safe. I've been looking at a Glock G30 (subcompact) b/c it's about the right size. My .357 Mag 6-shooter w/ a short barrel barely fits.

    Was wondering about what would fit. Have a Ruger SP-101 .357 with a 2" barrel...think it will still fit.

    I ordered the one with the barrel key lock instead.

    I wish I could tell you, but I have no idea. I measured the safe then went looking for guns w/ the right specs. I don't have the measurements anymore b/c I settled on the G30.

    Gotcha. I'm pretty confident it will fit...fits in there now with plenty of room to spare even with the holster on it. If not...great excuse to buy another gun...;):yay::quickdraw:

    Thanks guys. How do you like that combo lock? It looks weak to me but it'd be really nice not to have to keep track of another key. This is probably what I'll end up doing. I'm thinking some velcro on the inside to keep things organized. And it looks like you'd be able to do that mini mag light mod still.

    So mws4ua what's the verdict? You like this thing and are totally satisfied or you wish . . . . ?

    And argm31i I'd really like to hear your feedback on it when you get it installed.

    One of you dudes should do a product review on this bad boy with it's own thread. Ahhhhh yeah. Let me know. Thanks gents!

    Got it today. Installed it in about 20 minutes. Works extremely well. I got the barrel key lock. I did not realize that you cannot unlock it and leave it that way (like every time you're actually in the truck), and if I had, I'd have probably gone for the combo lock. One other thing is that it really reduces the amount of space in your console (far more than I'd anticipated) as I think was already said. That said, other than that (and for me, those are really minor details), I love it. It does exactly what it says it will, installs just as easily (or easier) than they say, and for me, is worth every penny.

    Nice. How much room, approximate % wise, do you think you're losing? I don't think I would mind losing a bit since I usually put too much junk in the center console anyways. Is there enough room between the top of the vault lid and the console lid to do that mini maglite mount mod?
