I'd like some suggestions on what you guys use for gun safes. I dont need a full size one just yet, maybe in a couple years. I got one for my birthday, but I'm not really a fan of it..Just seems "cheap". Its made by sentry, but the lock and handle is plastic.

I found one from bass pro that I like..I'd like to actually see it in person before I buy tho. BPS is over 3 hours from my house tho:rolleyes:

Plus my thing is, within the next year or so I hope to move out of my house..I'd like to get into a bigger safe down the road, which I dont want to spend a ton of money on a safe now.

not going to bolt it into the floor, there old hardwood, no point in doing so.:(

Fireproof is what I was looking for, I just hate the combination dial. I want a key lock, but it dosent look like they make it in what I want.

I've got a Cannon 24-gun safe and it's pretty nice for the cost. Mine has the dial lock not the electronic crap. Be sure you have a strong back, hand truck, and some friends.

Believe me thats not really big, esp if you put your ammo, magazines etc inside. I also keep important paperwork in mine.

Thats the problem..Without doing major mods, there is no getting under neath it. I'd have to find out exactly where the spot I'd be putting it, take down the section of cieling(plaster walls/cielings in this house) and then fix it..to only move out in a year or so.

kickboard all the way around, I'd have to remove or notch it so the safe would sit flush against the wall:rolleyes:

If you're willing to get a couple guys to help move it, you can probably put a wanted ad on CL and get a great deal. I bought a Browning 5' fireproof safe for $500 from a friend who didn't want it and couldn't move it. It's 10 years old and built better than most of the electronic-locked stuff that Winchester and others are putting out. 4' wide, 3' deep and bolted to the slab. No one's getting it out without at least a bobcat frontloader.

If you don't want to go that route, those all-metal lockers from StackOn are nice. No fire resistance though.

WalMart usually carries an entry level line of safes that are the same size as a locker but offer better protection.

Get a fullsize one and don't worry about buying another one until you run out of room (and you will run out of room).

    We have a Liberty Franklin.

Not only do we put guns in it, but all of our important documents, deed, titles, and everything and anything you don't want to be destroyed in a fire.

We've only had it for a couple years and we're running out of room in it!! LOL
