I'm more of a knife guy. The KA-BAR TDI is pretty cool for a fixed blade. I am looking to get a 12ga when I get home, any reasonably priced ones out there for home defense, maybe shoot some clays and the age old compensation.

Oh yes and that guy did sound a little to eager to talk about that crap. I hope he finds a good support group at the VA, or learns to distinguish between video games and the real world.

I have a Mossberg 500 pump 12 gauge. They're pretty reasonably priced. I've done trapp shooting with it. I'm a newbie shotgun shooter but I'm pretty good with it at 19 yards (I average around ~22-24 out of 25 clays). It drops off pretty quickly further back though as my barrels are standard (no choke). I have an 18" & 24" barrel. 18" barrel makes a good home defense length. I also have a pistol grip for it. There are Accu-choke barrels with swappable chokes (IC, M & F). I've also seen 28" barrels for it.

i want to get a KA-BAR soon, we have these Operation Iraqi Freedom ones at my work, but obviously i would never use a special edition one, it would be something pretty to just look at...i sometimes have trouble telling the difference between COD4 and my real "life"

Ditto, I just shoot paper, but having lived in North Long Beach during the LA riots during its height, I'm prepared to defend myself with whatever means possible.

I know from this that the law CANNOT be there in times of strife to protect you. Therefore, you must be able to protect yourself and your loved ones.

This means, I train by shooting paper targets, for the reality of having to shoot a guy during troubled times.

But to answer your question, I have never had any professional experiences involving shooting anyone.

But I've seen plenty of people shot, due to working in the ER. If you're ever shot and still alive, first thing to to is stay calm.

The more excited you are, the greater the heart rate and blood pressure, and thus the greater the blood loss.

Keep a cool head and do the next logical thing, whatever that entials. Shooting back, compression dressing, calling 911, saying I love you to your S.O. or whatever.

I will copy and paste what I was told.
You are welcome to your own opinion.

    Dan,

You are a little too complex for just a simple diagnosis.

    Roger that.
I have done some advanced study myself, as I have an interest.
Understanding PTSD is to some avail.
    And you holster yours first.

This body had better give me 10 more years, as I have decided to repair some combat wounds this year. I was putting it off for years expecting death. I have outlived the stats, so it may be worth it.
    It is not fun.

yeah, i had an interest in it my whole life. until i studied it in college and realized that most of it is useless. there is some good stuff but alot of it is a waste of time. i spent a year working in a psych hospital and decided i had enough

You are not the first to make that mistake. I am here. But I am not here.
I like sharp and pointy things also.
Benchmade makes the current auto folders for the Army and AF.
I like and bought both from Mil. Sales. The AFO will not fit in a flight suit knife pocket.

Well, meet the first. It is still in debate as to whether it was worth it. But I have the usual medals from a rifle Co. and spent the usual time in hospital on that one.

The VA does have support groups, whatever they are. It is not a matter of interest.

I like sharp n pointy things too. Got a link to those Benchmades? :D I carry a Coldsteel ti-lite at the moment. Works well for me and I love the finger guards that snag the edge of my pocket to flick the blade open as I draw it. :D
