Because it has happened before, and has happened in other countries.

And some countries outside of the US also drive on the left side of the road, use the metric system, speak other languages, offer free college, and be head people. I'm not particularly concerned with the activities of other countries. Especially as reasoning for why something that hasn't taken place in this country before is going to happen here.

Not to mention some states already require registration on guns. You could also have a Republican ran gov't in 4 years that has a completely different view on gun control. Not to mention you don't even know if the AWB and registration proposal will even pass now.

If you cant see a link between gun registration and confiscation, then what is the reason for it? Plus didnt the law in New York say that you cant pass on guns, so they have to either be sold out of state or destroyed once you are gone (seems like confiscation to me). I also dont understand why you are so willing to give up your rights.

California isn't doing too well with Diane Feinstien and Leeland Yee. What they propose for California is even tougher registration laws for each firearm in possession. They are also proposing that everyone have a special permit or ID card in order to buy ammo that will limit the amount purchased on a monthly basis...

Because the first ban didn't ban "pre-ban" weapons or magazines. The current NY law limits magazine capacities with disregard as to whether they are pre-ban or not.

Because I personally dont have a problem with having to register a firearm if I purchase one. I don't see that as taking away my rights. If there is no registration at all how does anyone know who a gun belongs to? What if its stolen or used in a crime?

This argument is pointless. The fact that people actually think all guns are going to be taken away in the United States is ridiculous and such an idea would never be even close to being widely supported in this country by its people nor would it ever pass.

JTAV, what they are proposing is that you register, and when you die, you cannot pass on that gun to your heirs. The reason I have some of the guns I have are that they were passed down to me from my father and his father before him. I will continue this tradition, legal or not.
I dont expect you to understand this because your dad probably passed down a golden spoon to you. Down here in Texas we love our constitution and will fight for it. That means, all of it not just the parts we like. I believe in the 1st Amendment where you can have your opinions and I can have mine. If they take away my 2nd Amendment right to keep and bear arms, what is to stop them from saying that you can no longer have an opinion that does not go along with what the government is trying to feed you.
Take this how you will, but I will do everything in my power to keep all of my GOD given rights.

They confiscated guns in NOLA after Katrina. Our government is more than willing and able.

Well, you are entitled to your opinion. IMO, its a pain in the ass waste of time and money. I had all my guns regsitered, and it accomplished nothing.
