drop in k&n for now. Deckplated. Got rid of the intestinal airpipe and baffleys. Replaced with shiny big pipe of more straightness.
And when I lived in New Zealand for 3 years it was the second most violent place per capita..after South Africa..Gorgeous country absolutely.
But violent..just with out alot of guns.
There were spear, machete, generic knife, cricket bat, katana attacks.
    punch ups ,etc.

It was nice working some security and not reallly worrying bout guns for a change.

Oh and hunting. And protection.Same as the girlfriend.

And nope the cops dont roll armed..but there is the lovely Armed Offenders squad.

Im out of freakin Bisto too.damn it.

No, I have NOT had to draw my weapon BUT HERE ARE 2 STORIES

One time I was able to drive away from some desert wackos who came up to my camper trying to break in.We were parked about 5 miles from town in an unfamiliar area (had a girl with me and were making out)I had a pass- through from the camper to the cab and avoided the confrontation by leaving.

Second time I was gold prospecting early one morning. My friend and I got stuck(Chevy Truck of course) on a long up hill desert road
as we were getting UN-stuck two individuals came up to us heavily armed both with rifles and side arms. They heard out wheels spinning saw our dust and stated that WE had been shooting at them last night.....?????WTF! we just got there I thought to myself!

I was pretty worried because in my mind if I was them, I would have been pissed off too_Of course it WASN'T US.My Friend and I were able to defuse the situation by empathizing with them. The back of our truck was open and we suggested look in the bed of the truck. They could see that we did not have camping equipment with us but mining supplies as we had stated.
They believed us ( of course we had side arms on us which I'm sure helped ). After about 5 minutes they were convinced that we were not those people they actually HELPED us get unstuck and offered us to visit them at their camp.

I know there are some members here that have hormones raging in their veins and will fight over a missed placed opinion on this site.Thats your prerogative to react how you want.

Some of may think I'm a pu**y for not standing up for myself but I believe your brain can be your best defense in SOME situations. We were prepared to draw and shoot to kill/harm them if necessary.Though Im obviously not law enforcement I was instructed by a Phx Police officer in a CCW class here in Az several years back.
After the class I learned that if pain, permanently being disabled or death does not scare you from a bullet wound. Our screwed up legal system awaits for you along with money grabbing defense attorneys and over zealous prosecuting attorneys.

Interesting fact: You may be found NOT GUILTY avoiding State or Federal prosecution and get no jail time if your lucky BUT you may find yourself being sued from every crack head, trailer trash family member on a wrongfull death lawsuit that will cost you THOUSANDS of dollars. You may not may be able to ever own a titled vehicle boat or home for along time if ever. Plus, If my Chemo fried Brain is correct, bankruptcy will not make the lawsuits go away or avoid paying them.

(Just some some friendly advice so you can buy more accessories for your hobby !)
I hope I have added something positive to this discussion. There are some SERIOUS misconceptions about defending yourself your property and other people with firearms.Educate yourself on the law of your state so you know how to react..............PLEASE

I can't vote because I don't fall under the hunting catagory, though I have been deer hunting a few times 25 years ago. All my guns are for fun but I do keep one by my night stand (.38 snubby).

Agreed- there is, as mentioned before, a lot of chest-beating bravado in threads like this one. A CCW licensee has a moral and legal obligation to avoid, if at all possible, the use of lethal force. Besides that obligation, the Rambos need to consider the fact that most of them will have (or should have) deep seated guilt and second guessing about the choices made in such an encounter. The psychological impact will be unendurable for some- ask any combat veteran.

Castle doctrine aside, you should be wetting your pants as you make the decision to take a life.

Each state is different, some states (Arizona for one) list crimes in which deadly force is permitted to prevent (kidnapping, arson, rape, etc). Even if you could save yourself. Some states say (California) that if you have any avenue of escape (including an air vent) that you must take it.

You are absolutly right, people that carry (open or concealed) need to sit down and talk to someone (military or police) that have fired, to try and understand the consequences associated with shooting (mental and legal). For me, I would rather deal with the consequences of taking a life than dealing with loosing a life I might have been able to save. I have no delusions of "Rambo"; I just choose to not be helpless if the worse ever happens. In my training and research, I spend a lot of time praying that I never need it.

AZtaco..nice write up. i do have a friend in tuscon. he shot a guy robbing his store. i dont know the specifics because he wont talk about it, but i know he got sued to the sky. he didnt kill the fella.

my brother also had to kill someone. a fireman that was about to kill his wife, and him. my bro changed.

it is a last resort for me. i will push my wife out the window (i live in a one story home :)) and dive out, armed before i have to kill some jerkoff trying to steal my flatpanel. nothing in my home is worth it.

i still have plans to turn one of my rooms into a safe room. strong door, and frame. some defendable position.

when i was younger, some guy knocked on my door at 2:00 am. i yelled thru the door. he said he was out of gas, and wanted to sell me a child seat for gas money. i yelled that i had no kids. he was about to get effed up. my brother peeked thru a window, and saw movement. the way we were scrambling to arm up made them suspicious, and they ran off. i thought it was game on.. if i had opened up the door, i bet the hidden guy would have stuck a gun in my face.

i'll try to defend myself with my brain first. i am very suspicious by nature.

In Canada, the only ones with hand guns are the cops and the bad guys, honest people cannot be trusted with them. In order to own a hunting rifle you need to register it and be pretty much subjected to every test known to man such as DNA, blood sample, stool sample, finger prints, eye scan etc. (OK a little bit of a stretch but not much)

Firstly, in Canada you can own semi-auto's in both long guns and hand guns. All hand guns must have a barrel of at least 4 inches. (I think it's 4), but only if you belong to a shooting club and use it at a legit shooting range. If you write a simple multiple choice test you can get your firearms license which allows you to buy firearms and ammo. Once you get the gun you let the Gov't know the make model etc, and they send you a little piece of paper saying you own it and its licensed. I've never heard of a DNA or blood test. Maybe if you've done some sinister $hit.

    I have a S&W 9 MM pistol, a norinco 12 gauge w/ 12" barrel (bear gun), and a Savage .284 WIN lever action. (99C I think)

I have heard that you cannot HUNT with the semi-autos in Canada though...Do you know?
Many states here wont allow you to use semi's for hunting PERIOD.

I don't want to start a debate war but I just think that a small 3 to 5 round magazine limit in a semi auto sounds reasonable to hunt no matter where you live.Especially if they require you to put a plug in your shotgun to limit you to 3 rounds so whats the difference? the way the gun looks? Cause they still function the same.
Banning ALL semis from hunting is a little too restrictive.
I know Pennsylvania has such rules as of 5 years ago and thats what I'm basing my opinion on. I live in Az. and thank God its still pretty free for the time being.

Take care and enjoy that gorgeous outdoors you have up there!

I'm sick of the brown here in Az.I see a patch of green here and I start salivating. my wife laughs as she's from Penn. and used to green.

    Take care!
