For the first statement: All you need to do is get her on the range once....after that, she will be o.k. with them. I am an instructor, and my experience has been that people that are anti-gun have never touched one, let alone fired it. Once I get them on the range, they see how much fun they are, and their opinion changes.....

For the second part: once you have kids, you will do anything to protect them. That being said, I advise everyone to knock and announce themselves before entering my house due to my statement above. Maybe even call before you get there.....:)

There is a 40cal Sig 239 on the couch, a FEG pa-63 9mm in the kitchen, a 22 revolver arms reach of the front door,357 on one side bed a Taurus 92 9mm with a 20round mag on the other side of the bed and a 12ga pump with 18in barrel in the corner of the bedroom. The computer room has a 1911 on the right side of the desk. They are all loaded, one in the chamber and safety is off. Except the shot gun, sound effect of racking it in. When a drunk off duty Police officer kicks your door DOWN on a Sunday afternoon and pulls a 9mm on you then you change forever. No one will kick my door in again and pull a gun on me or my Family walk away. I only owned one pistol until that day. Now I have a few.
I collect old 22's and do alot of taget shooting. I hunt small game and plink alot. I have never pulled a gun on anyone and will not unless I have too. Yes I do have a CCW. If I am not in the house then you can bet the Sig is on myside.

I did not vote in the poll, as this is about the 4th or 5th poll I have seen on various websites asking the same thing. I think the one asking for this info could be keeping records of who has guns. Could just be me, but who knows? No one wants to find out if I have any guns. At least not the hard way!

would carry for protection but i live in commiefornia where that sort of thing is frowned upon unless its home defense and even then you can get in trouble

so just duck hunting and target shooting at the range for now

I have a Taurus 357 magnum 6-shooter for protection. Can't beat a revolver for ease-of-use if you caught off guard, or in the case of a home invasion, sleeping.

Can you ever have too many guns? I don't think so. In Bama I'm sure there are more firearms than people. Most everyone I know owns multiple firearms. I'm loaded for both and hope I never have to use one for protection, but like someone has already said, Better to have and not needed it that to need it and not have it.

^^ Agree completely. As someone just now getting their CCW I'm wonder if it's something i really need after 46yrs of not needing it. I know i want something "just in case" but avoidance of situations and confrontation is just as important.

My 98 has 4 in.beefed blocks, QA1 up front, turbo. My 15 4x4 stock looking for lift and tires.
Ive got 2 hand guns. ones a Glock 19 I keep it inside the bed side table loaded. My wife and kids know its there. they have all been informed of the severity of touching it my wifes been to the range with me and taught how to use it and why not to be affraid of it. My daughter has never fired it and has no intrest what so ever.

My other is a S&W snubb nose 38 and I do have my CWP and carry it 75% of the time.

If they outlaw guns then only outlaws will have guns do your part fight your congress. let them know you have the right to bare arms.

I am a veteran of the United States Marine Corps have been well trained in fire arms and will be training my familly to do the same.

I'm currently looking for a handgun for home defense. I had a 9mm which I felt was too small cal. and I had a .357 which IMHO was way over kill.

Currently looking for a good .40 cal or a .38 super. Not sure what make to go with yet?

the 1911 are sweet guns also.

I wouldn't hesitate to put a few rounds into someone's head if they were threatening my family.

But I love a powerful Paint ball gun, for the crack heads who might want to have an early christmas.

Spray them with about 50 rounds and they'll wish they were never born! LOL!!

The XD is my Carry Gun. The Mossberg is my Home defense. I take the XD, Mossberg and .22 to the Range all the time. The Colt Agent was my Grandfathers Personal Carry when he was Off-Duty. I just inherited it and only plan to get it cleaned up and then stored away.

The fact is that public safety in general is deteriorating. Previously held "good neighborhoods" are no longer excluded from random violent crime. Arming yourself against the possibility is only prudent and intelligent.
