Darn, saw a truck very similar to yours...even had the retro stripes, pass me headed north towards Richfield. Thought it might have been you.

It helps if you don’t let them off paved surfaces

Only time I've seen that light was when I shorted my alternator out at 5 mile diving through mud puddles.

I have been suspicious of my charging circuit lately. Especially this past week. The truck was really kinda chugging to start. I think the light has been flickering the past week too... would catch something out of the corner of my eye, but when I would look at the cluster, it would be gone. It started flickering while driving on Saturday, and then stayed on steady for several minutes before going back off. My battery voltage is also staying suspiciously low when I check on my stereo (via OBDII port). I will double check outputs and voltage drop, but I can almost guarantee the alternator is just worn out. I had the exact same symptoms with the battery light when the alternator was failing on my wife's Camry before we sold it.

MM and LHM want $432 (minus a core fee of $75) for one and only LHM has one. Might just order one online and pay to ship the core back...

Helper dog at it again. Lubed the uca bushings and King eyelets chasing down a squeak which didnt fix it.

Further examination shows I may have a bad tie rod on the passenger side due to a blown and contaminated boot. Get kind of a milky dirty thinner than it should be grease leaking out of where it meets the spindle when I work it around.

Would also explain the 47-55mph 2" lateral wobble I get in the steering wheel.

Had the pleasure of attending Desert Brutality again this year, making this my 3rd time. Two full days of challenging courses of fire mixed with physicality like kettle bell tosses, sandbag hauls, etc. Ended up 2/28 in my division and 13/178 overall.

    IMG_6835.jpg

Below are a few of the more interesting stages.

Stage 6 was my 3rd stage of day 1. You got up on a rickety bridge structure and had to clear 5 clay pigeons. Then hop off, grab the sand bag, and run down a bay, shoot a plate rack, pick up your sandbag and move to the last bay with some static steel. Had a whoopsies coming off the bridge by not placing my rifle in the dump box. Not used to shooting 2gun style stages with them, and previous stages had mandated discarding weapons on a table, etc so it threw me off a little. Then spaced and almost forgot the sandbag was on the shooters left not shooters right so had to go back and get it. Lost some time there. Plate rack had a tendency to have extra plates fall off so makeup shots on static steel were required to level out the engagements each shooter had. I only had 3, so not too bad, but some had 5+ and the alternating positions really sucked up a lot of time.

    https://youtu.be/MSragPIirGc

Stage 7 was the slayer of the match. Start shooting a swinging Texas Star, then advance to the next bay, and shoot 2 targets from each box. Each miss sent you back a box. Clear the boxes and move to the next bay and do it over again. My takeaway was to take each shot seriously, they all matter. You can see I had to repeat a few of the end boxes a couple times because I focused on a good first hit, transitioned, and then chipshotted my second shot expecting to be done, and missing because of it. You can actually see the slack develop in my posture/stance on a few of them.

Scoring was originally par time (max 240sec) + 60sec per missed target penalty, but they ended up making it just par time for anyone that didn't finish it because the potential penalty could have easily 2x or 3x'd your overall 2-day score (low score wins like golf) so one stage could literally cancel out the other 6 if you did poorly enough. I wish there had been a little more incentive to the good pistol shots like taking -10s off for each box advanced, etc to widen the bell curve a little more but overall a fun stage.

    https://youtu.be/v7-bPcKoE_4

Day 2 had me shoot stages 1-3. Stage 1 was a massive 200 yard bay and you ran the length up and back of it. I wish I had gotten a video, but I was one of the two shooters in our squad that actually finished it without timing out. Had 2 double feeds on that stage that cost me a bit of time and probably about 4 places on the leaderboard, but life happens.

Stage 2 was another fun one. Shoot some static steel from 4 barrel positions, then advance up and engage a spinner. 15 hits or a flip would advance you to pistol. Shoot 2 steel from the box, then advance up and 15 hits or flip the spinner with the pistol.

A great weekend and I'm already looking forward to next year's event.

Maybe I can bully @vorkuta775 into coming next year, depending on how quickly the match sells out.

I really dig that course bro, that was fun! especially the unstable platform that is good training especially for maritime . I want to figure out a way to make a few trenches and reactive targets for trench clearing, bunkers etc.

Helped scout for a buddy trying to fill his elk tag over by Duschene last weekend. Was somewhere between -14 and 1*F in the mornings and then got between mid 20s and mid 30s during the days. Lotta time on bumpy rocky rez roads getting to the unit from camp then combing miles and miles of country.

Sadly, the colder than average temps and the early snow pushed the herd onto the rez by like a quarter mile just south of our camp, so while we could see them, we couldnt play tag with them.

Wrong member of the deer family. We must have seen 1000000 muleys this weekend.

Camp for the weekend. The trailer was a calamity in itself with the cold, but still better than a tent.

So much vert. Cardio not on point.

Skunked. Found the herd and never got a chance to catch them slippin.

I hear the elk have a gps app they use now to move just off of public land during hunting season. Still looks like it was a good adventure though.

coming back into camp from another area on the last night, the 50 elk herd ran in front of my truck with like 2 seconds warning. Almost filled their tags the hard way.
