I looked at that pic without protection and have "severe pinkeye" in both eyes according to the doctors.

They announced there's gonna be a follow on series about the rise of the Targaryens.

In the mean time, Chernobyl is quite good.

I think the project is dead, nobody could agree on a script. Thechanges that wanted to be done were to much work.

I second Chernobyl. Amazing how much a meltdown can get into the environment. And of course the Ruskies tried to cover it up.

Its a pretty accurate depiction of how the Soviet party system breaks down on even basic solutions to problems offered by people outside of "authority".

And how the glory of the state is important above all else. That's why Putin keeps getting such a high number in the popular vote (amongst other reasons :spy:) because he plays to the Russian nationalist sense... "Make Russia Great Again" has essentially been his platform since he took power. Hold the olympics, reclaim lost land, etc.

Would we have been any different??? Letting the Soviets over here to help us with such a disaster like that in that day and age?

Not even on outside help though, but even internally it was always the "party expert" that was the point man not a leading research scientist that studied that exact reactor.

Now lying to the Germans about the radiation levels to save face before frying a borrowed robot, that's embarrassing, but I could see us rejecting help too.

One of the spin-off’s was burned but another one was green lit. The burned one was like 2,000 years before GoT. The green light was given to the one that’s like 300 years before GoT.

Yes, Chernobyl was a good one. Loved that show. Didn’t care for the dog slaughter part.

Yeah, that was an unfortunate but accurate part of the show.

The good news is that if workers discover a litter of puppies before they get irradiated, they have been allowed by the Ukranian govt to be put up for adoption and have a life. The older ones have sometimes been fitted for radiation collars that transmit dosimeter levels so we can better map radiation without exposing a human.

If you're looking for a tax write-off, the Clean Futures Fund is the one that runs the vet offices inside Chernobyl and takes care of the strays as best they can.

I give fairly generously to the local animal shelters and am always skeptical about how the money gets used, but I’d be even more skeptical giving to a foreign government.

    I dunno maybe there legit.

Clean Futures in a US 501C3 out of Michigan. They fly over every year and do what they can until the money runs out.

I know what you mean about oversight though. Sometimes you just gotta huck and pray.

    https://www.charitynavigator.org/

Charity Navigator is a good source to see if organizations are legit. Charities despite being tax exempt do have to file a form 990, which discloses how their expenditures are allocated. Not sure if that form is directly searchable, but if CN can find them, I imagine you could too.

The good ones even self disclose them:

I didn't do so hot in college level chemistry. Also, bird law is...well, it just isn't governed by reason. Thankfully @Taco-Obsessed has my back in that field.

(CNN)A South African safari took a tragic turn Sunday when a giraffe was struck by a car and fell on another passing vehicle in Kruger National Park.

The vehicle that hit the giraffe held 13 visitors passing through the park on their way to a rest camp. After being struck, the giraffe fell on an oncoming tourist rental vehicle driven by a Swiss national.
The collision killed the giraffe and left the driver seriously injured. He later died in the hospital as a result of his injuries.

Guy that hit the giraffe
