    In need of $$$

What is that? A hybird Tacoma? J?K..

But now that I bring it up, will a hybird "truck" be in our future? SUVs are already going that route..

They're not scamming us. He may have had a point if he said gouging or making too much money, maybe being meanies. It's a shame they have a product and we can't tell them how much they should sell it to us for.

Here is an interesting quote from GM’s Chief executive Rick Wagoner today; "High gasoline prices are changing consumer behavior rapidly," Wagoner said. "We at GM don't think this is a spike or temporary shift. We believe that it is by and large permanent."

^Well I "THINK" it isn't permanent. Anyone can say higher oil prices are "permanent" if prices are even $.01 higher than they were previously. Opinion isn't fact but I can tell you that it's obvious that market speculation plays a large part in oil prices. Oil was down more than $3 today to $124/barrel. Just two weeks ago we hit a high of $135.

Almost everyone in the world hopes you are right. Except the environmentalists of course, who would like us to go back to the Stone Age.

The funny thing is there's a huge market in Ontario Canada, for the used American Tacoma's that people are giving up on across the border. When I bought mine, it was hard to test drive a few without them being sold a day later when I came back to purchace (happened 3 times before I put a deposit down on my truck). The dealership I bought from says he can't keep the Tacoma's and Ridgelines on his lot for more than a few days before they're sold. Right now 90% of used cars on dealer lots in Ontario are all US vehicles, and its mostly due to the fact that people are ditching they're cars/trucks for more economy cars. It worked out perfectly for me since I needed a truck for work/play and didn't want an 8 cyl. I ended up saving a few thousand dollars cause someone didn't want to pony up the extra $20 to fill it each week. lol Sweet deal for me!

Man, you got that right. They'd rather we live in caves. Hell, I've seen environuts say that the best thing for the earth would be if half the population died off. I still can't believe someone can be that stupid to think that way.

Then he was asking TOO MUCH. What's special about KBB? That book (even the online info) is outdated by a year or so and only gives you a general range of what comparable vehicles have sold for.
The vehicle is still worth today (say it with me now) exactly what someone is willing to pay.

    The money is pretty good.

And the funny thing is, once the media has you tagged as 'an expert' on something, by golly you are, as far as anybody knows ...

Mind you, to paying clients, you have to earn your keep!

Ha.. my truck is paid for. Couldn't afford the $350+ in new financing AND the price of gas. It would only cut my fuel bill in half ($400 last month) so $350+200=$550 which is $150 more than I currently pay :D

I didn't buy a truck for it's gas mileage.. however I did buy the Tacoma vs the Tundra for mileage. That was back in 05 though.

Funny.. everyone blames the oil companies for high gas prices when the auto manufactures have screamed every time someone suggests raising CAFE standards and applying them to truck and SUV's. Funny... it's come back to bite them now with GM closing 4 plants and F150's sitting on lots.

Sure glad I have a Tacoma. Don't see Toyota closing any plants and they make a couple of the top rated trucks on the market. :)

^Good points. The problem with domestics (I've mentioned this before) is that they took to long to react to a changing market. I think it's something like 60% of Toyota's sales are small cars while the domestics are probably about that amount with trucks. The downturn hasn't affected Toyota anywhere near as much as the "Little 3" (hey, they are now that Toyota is on top). Toyota's sales are down only 4% over last year while the domestics are in the teens, according to an article I saw recently.
