Most of the Rock N Roll we grew up with were Dudes wearing skinny Jeans. I don't see to any people calling Robert Plant, or Ted Nugent gay.

Context is definitely the qualifier. A guy wearing a pair of tight jeans because he thinks it's "ironic" or because he wants to look like Mick Jagger gets less leeway than a guy wearing them because baggy clothing gets caught on barbed-wire fences.

Alternatively, people ridin' the range are disqualified because they are wearing them as work clothing, not as fashion. It's kinda the difference between wearing a baseball glove because you are a pitcher, or wearing one because you found it at Goodwill and it goes nicely with your retro Chuck Taylors and brings out your eyes.
