After test driving a 2nd Gen and 3rd Gen back in Feb 2016, went with the 2nd Gen. There's just so much more get up and go in the 4.0L than the 3.5L. Only regret is.....not having heated mirrors for these Canadian Winters...

I was in the market for another tacoma or equal (there is no equal) around the same time that the 3rd gens started to roll in. i have always been a truck guy but a while back life situations made me trade my '08 reg cab in on my corolla( i know shame shame, but its still a toyota at least). forward to early 2016 and i was in the market for a tacoma "again". i missed my little 2.7 5-speed 4x4 combo, had so much fun in that truck. so i started to look at the 2016 SR 4-cylinder since it is simple and i never tow/haul anything heavy. literally the same day i was planning on buying the SR i picked out, the dealer just put a used 2013 trd off-road on the back lot, they were finishing the "certified used" inspection the day before. i took a look at the truck and it was close to the same price as the basic 2016 SR 4x4 was new, plus it had 2 years left on extended toyota warranty............! after testing out both trucks i honestly liked the 2013 a lot more than the 3rd gen's i looked at. they only had the truck listed online for a few hours and already had a bunch of calls and people showing up to look at it, every one of them walked right past the new 3rd gens. i like some aspects of the 3rd gen but i have absolutely no regrets buying a 2nd gen for the second time now.
