I just replaced a set of BFG A/T's on my tow rig ('04 Silverado) which had worse cracking than that, however my tires were nearly nine years old and had north of 80K (mostly loaded highway) miles on them. In my case I think the cracking was due to sitting in the sun daily and only getting driven once or twice a month. I replaced mine because I was taking that truck on a 800 mile trip, across the Mojave desert, towing my travel trailer and hauling my dual-sport MC so a blow-out would could have been disastrous.

Minor cracking probably isn't any big deal however I've found when it comes to tires it's always better to air on the side of caution. In the past I've been known to keep using tires for longer than I should have. It's nice of BF Goodrich to pro-rate your tires for you, hopefully your next set lasts longer.

I've never had any issues with the Duratrac tires....my son currently has a set on his 2002 4x4 Tacoma SR5 OR - during our times with them (on other vehicles) they've been great around the farm snow, rain - no issues - both vehicles driven a lot - and those that sit a lot. I wish you luck - at least BFG is recognizing your issue and trying to make it right.

    Thanks.

I really did like my duratracs, amazing in the snow. The only thing, there was a slight hum on hwy. I do take the highway a lot lately, so wanted something quieter.

I was actually expecting BFG to tell me its perfectly normal, but apperantly not.

No - I agree - I'm not saying this makes it a bad tire (though I do not like them for my uses) - but for them to offer that percentage of compensation is above an offer of goodwill (i.e.: 10% off) - to me it shows 2 things: 1. The company is genuine about standing behind their products 2. Their product - in this instance - warranted them standing behind it.

As for the humm on the higway, from the Duratracs...I'm older and my sense of hearing was one of the first things to go.

True. If you don't put many miles on, the rubber will develop cracks. I was going to ask the same thing about miles driven.

I never had this issue with 2 other sets of tires that were treated exactly the same.

Cause they are the kind of tire you use on your supercar and burn them off in 8k miles. I've never not seen dry rotted Michelins on trucks and suvs. Pretty sure their compound just isn't made for the long haul.

They make a tire conditioner that you can spray to keep the rubber pliable. I used to use it on my trailer tires until I got lazy about it. It did work though to keep them from checking. I have had KO2s a few times and I don't remember seeing that until they were pretty aged though so IDK.

If i remember correctly about 10-12k miles, so just over a year.

Had similar tire pressure for years on my previous tires, no issues at all.

I'd be lucky to get two full years out of my Ko2's... I air down a lot... 7 mo old set looks like these photos... its normal... I cant expect tires not to look perfect when they are at 15psi, squirming, getting beads busted with hi-lifts to replace schrader valves... and what not... Check the dates on the tires.

They are tires you put on your supercar and burn them off in 8k miles?

Seen plenty of michelins LTXs on trucks and suvs and they looked just fine. Not sure where you guys are getting this from.

I've only heard bad things about them on trucks, cracked sidewalls, dry rot. Maybe its a regional thing?

    Similar tire?
Only comparable if it's the same size and load rating.

    FYI:
    6 PSI x 4 tires = 888 lbs of load capacity.

Same size and load rating (E), just different brands.

I had a yard of gravel @30 psi and sidewall looked like there was no load in the back, i couldnt believe it.
