My last set ended up like yours. Nothing bad came from them and I ran them for about another 20k miles once I noticed. Not sure how long they were like that though. I wouldn't worry about it. My new set purchased last Oct havent done it yet.

    Good to hear.

I had a tire explode on the hwy a while ago, not fun. So when i see shit like this on my tires that only have 17k miles, im not too thrilled.

I have to agree. At 17k in 2 years you're not driving on them enough. Any UV protectant on them? If your sitting 5 days a week try covering your tires.

My tires are not in direct sunlight, i know exactly what sun does to the tires. I have 2 full size vans on each side of my truck, so its actually in the shade.

Okay, I'll just add this. Tires can have a half inch of tread, and still have the tits on them and blow TFU. 17,000 miles on 5 year old tires is a problem. Post up the date code, and all of us will sleep better...lol

So just checked this morning. It says 1318, so they were made in 2018.

    Yeah date code arrived! Last week of March 2018. 28 Months old, 6 Year prorated warranty= (72 months - 28 months) / 72 = 61%

24 months use gives 66.7% so they were 4 months old when installed.

    I have to disagree.
    I have 5 year old KO2s with 30,000 miles.
They sit outside anywhere from 5 to12 days. They're in great shape.

OP ran his tire at 30 psi for 10-12K miles out of 17K miles; they should have had 37. I'd like to see the inner liner...

Not sure what that stuff is but a yard of A gravel is 3000 lbs. I did that once in my '91 pick up. It sat on the axle but a drove it home. lol

I have the same tires on mine. I keep 45 psi in them. 10 ply rated tires don't like to flex.

    "Looked like..."
Tires tend to spread longitudinally, not latitudinally.
If you had measured your deflection before and after, you would 'see' a lot more.

I asked the guy twice if that was a yard, he said yes. I paid for the yard too. He loaded half a yard first and i told him to keep loading. I have never transported a yard before so i have never seen how it looks like in a 5ft box. I might have got screwed for all i know. The truck definetily felt very heavy when braking, the engine seemed to not care at all.

Im sure i would "see" more if i measured, i was just surprised that the sidewall didnt even bulge. I drove on curvy mountain highway for about 45 with the load and it drove excellent. Back felt good.

my cooper discoverer at3 looked brand new after 4 years. never have i seen splitting in any of my tacoma tires like that.

on my accord the hancook tires did dry rot like that and got replaced under warranty.

my coworker even said man your tires look new.

Yep, if you take care of them and stay away from curbs, its possible for tires to look new for a while. Some folks just dont want to believe though.

These were my pirelly scorpions after 4 years and 45k miles. Look like new, no cracks/splits or dry rot. I even scrubbed the shit of the white letters all the time and they looked great.
