Uplight is magnified with the entire pattern using higher wattage bulbs, but I wouldn’t call it blinding by any means. Here is the headlight thread:

There are bulbs that are designed for exactly what you are asking. Hella is by far the most common with their 100/55w H4. Hellas bulbs can vary pretty significantly in quality. They don’t actually make their own bulbs, they outsource/contract it to plants in both Korea and China. Narva (a Philips brand) also makes 100/55w H4s, Narva is made in Germany. While I haven’t tried either of the two 100/55w H4s, between them I would go with Narva:

Well all I can say is that having these Osrams reverse lamps for a couple of months now, I can say I am very impressed and satisfied, I have even had a couple of occasions at night where just by going in to reverse cars passing by will slow down cause they think I'm already backing out. Definitely lets them know yeah I'm getting ready to back out.

I agree, these are excellent. I have a long driveway in a very rural area of Kentucky. There was no light but moon, stars and a little glow from the stock lights. I got the Osrams and I can see a very long way. The view with the backup camers is super. Excellent recommendation, @crashnburn80

You might try a 7440 to 921 adapter:

Just starting out, give me time
Crazzy how small the OsramHIR's are compared to factory bulbs. Thought I had the wrong bulbs for a sec. Used the spread out prong and crushed brass clamps method and worked great. Just tried it a little bit before Superbowl, so far so good.

I installed my Osram HIR bulbs yesterday. The amount of light they put out is amazing. While I can tell the difference in the backup camera, the view in the outside mirrors is unbelievable. Thanks to @crashnburn80 once again. E67314F8-BB35-41F0-AB20-1C9D7BC05A91.jpg

    The Osrams are 35w x2 / 12v = 5.8A. So yes.

I might have missed it, but did anyone post a how to go about replacing the reverse light? Do I need to remove the tail light housing to get to them? Sorry if its already been asked and I'm being redundant.

Thanks @crashnburn80 for all the great testing. If you're even in Tulsa, OK let me know.

Remove the tail light as shown here. Then the reverse bulb holder turns to lock in place in the back of the taillight housing.

Just got my bulbs in. Looking forward to some extra light. What is the consensus on prong bending? A or B?

I did A last night and it worked really well. Very solid.

Did you bend the female plug prongs as well or just the ones on the bulb?

I didn’t mess with the female prongs any.

If bending bulb tabs you want to use A. The idea is to maximize the contact area on the outer edge to press against the sides of the socket, so that it is held in securely. B does not maximize that contact area. To bend the tabs you want to use 2 sets of pliers, one to hold the prong steady near the base of the bulb so that the bend stress is only applied to the prong outside of the bulb to prevent cracking the glass. Alternatively or in addition one can try pinching the female socket tabs closed more for a tighter grip on the bulb. I just did A and did not bend the female socket tabs.
