wow, much brighter! Didnt have to bend the prongs, they came straight. But I did pinch the light socket contacts closer to each other so the bulb fit tighter.

That was taken right as the sun was setting and I was too excited to get the stock trash outta there so I didn’t get a night shot. But maybe I’ll swap a stock one back in there tonight

My high output LEDS probably were better, I didn't a big difference anyways

Maybe you are judging by color and not actual output? As the output difference is incredible but similar in color to OEM. In order for an LED to have higher stable output, you need massive external heat sinks outside the taillight assembly and those units are prone to failure if left on for an extended time. Diode Dynamics latest 921s have higher initial output, but quickly drop to lower stable output and cost $90. That and the focus and light saturation of a halogen in an incandescent assembly provides better uniform output vs the more scattered effect of using directional emitters in an assembly designed for an omnidirectional light source.

You can see this upgrade compared to many LEDs in the thread below. The HIR output is significantly better in every measurable way. While that thread is a few years old and LEDs have certainly improved, it was also using the lower output Philips HIRs, and not Osrams latest higher output HIRs as covered in this thread.

Maybe you are comparing by looking at the light source rather than looking at the output? Human eyes are far more sensitive to high color temp lights from LED, so it actually hurts to look at LED output but not halogen, even though that is unrelated to the relative output intensity. What brand are those? They have no heat sinks so cannot be very high in actual output.

I installed mine today. I forgot to get before pictures for a comparison. But there’s significantly more light. Really nice for less than $20!

Yes. 6000k+ temp light is exceptionally hard on human eyes, which are very sensitive to those very high color temps and cause humans to rate them as far brighter than they actually are when viewing the light source. Unfortunately headlight uplight/glare limits are based on candela and disregard color temp entirely. So a factory LED headlight with similar legal uplight to a halogen headlight will appear something like ~3x brighter to oncoming drivers due to human light temp sensitivity of the light source. Hence why legal LED headlights are so much more obnoxious to oncoming drivers than their legal halogen counterparts, even thought they meet the same candela uplight legal requirements. (I've have to double check the relative sensitivity difference metric, but it is in that ballpark/substantial.)
