With all the snow in the DC area, I have been using my H4 mode in my 2010 Tacoma. I just shift on the fly, under 60mph.

Yesterday, I parked my truck and left it in H4 considering the parking lot where I park is still full of snow and ice. This morning I start up the truck and the green 4wd icon on my dash is blinking. So I dis-engage the H4 back to H2 and re-engage H4 again and is still blinks.

    any thoughts?

sometimes you have to move a little to engage/disengage. Try going forward some and then back some. If moving down road or highway under 62mph and you switch from 2wd to 4H or vice versa, usually I have to let off gas for a second or so then resume and tranny will switch up to what you want.

Thats odd. I leave mine locked in while the truck is off alot with no problems.
did you drive the truck to disengage and start over?

While driving out of my parking lot, I tried to engage H4 and the icon was still blinking, even putting the car in N to see if some quirky way the H4 was acting like L4 (where you have to be in N to engage). I am work now so as soon as I get off from work, I will try engage H4 again and see what happens.

I've left mine in 4H overnight w/o any issues, so that is odd. At least you should be under warranty if you have an issue.

If it keeps up after all the tricks (neutral, reverse, pulling fwd slowly, letting it sit, warm up, cool down, praying while turning the knob). take it to the dealer to get it checked out.
Mine did the same thing out of the blue & it was the 4WD actuator covered under warranty. No problems since.

Leave it 4WD... overnight, 10 days, makes no difference. When the snow melts and the roads are dry, then go back to H2.
