Not to state the obvious but ... bare hands and halogen bulbs. If it lights, clean ALL oil residue off.

So there are 2 bulbs per headlight, low and high? I thought it was one bulb and 2 filaments! This whole bulb thing has me very confused. Does putting the H9's in the low beams only brighten the low beams? I know... stupid question!! What halogen bulb can I put in my high beam to get brighter highbeams??? Thx

The stock Tacoma projector halogens are two lights in one, a high beam and a low beam. The high beam uses an H9 and there are no upgrades for that. It's already a very very good high beam and there's nothing brighter available and definitely nothing LED no matter what the advertising claims are. It just happens that with a minor modification you can swap out the low beam's H11 bulbs for the higher wattage and higher output H9. The only thing better is to buy the Tacoma (2020) OEM LED assemblies and install those, which are substantially better than the projector units, and no matter which lights you have proper aiming is critical to your own safety and of the others on the road.

Also if you are already using highbeams it is very easy to add driving lights rather than fooling around with bulbs and stock housings.

Thanks!!! Will fog lights act as driving lights? I have those already. I live very rural and at night with brights on it is just about impossible to see the deer!! The main problem I have with going led is the cost!

no, fogs fill in under the low beams and go wide
also spec operation is for the fog lights to only work with the lows and turn off when the highs are turned on

so you could replace the fogs with diving lights and completely rewire or put a driving pattern light bar in the lower grill opening and wire that to a 3 way switch On w/ high beams - Off - On

I think I'm liking the idea of a light bar that will come on when the brights do and vice versa! This is primarily just to be able to spot deer on the sides of the road. A driving pattern bar would be better than a flood? Also about how much for a decent setup? Most economical but long lasting and good performance. Thanks!

go with a brand known for lighting that stands behind their product not one that rebrands cheap lights (they don't last)

Two Diode Dynamics 6 inch Stage series light bars in driving pattern hung using a BAMF mount and tied into the high beams on my '19 SR5. No cutting of the grille required. These things are BRIGHT and really light up the road here in deer country. If I'd put them on first before installing the LED headlights I could probably have saved 1400 bucks.:anonymous:

Not that I have any intention of going back though.IMG_20231017_082922646~2.jpg

Add a light bar in the lower opening of your grill. Brackets on Amazon about 29 bucks. $150 30 led light bar from harbor freight.
The fan boys are gonna steer you towards the high dollar ones to be cool. My HF has lasted from Toronto to Barrow AK to Santiago Chile. Still rocking. Good light output and tough as nails. The expensive DD one I bought on recommendations failed between Va and Toronto. I could have bought 4 of these for what I paid for that one.

I received some BulbZilla adapters a few days ago and used the standard Phillips H9 for the low beam. I just trimmed the tab a bit and the install was painless. Although I didn't "seem" to notice any difference it brightness while around town driving, I did notice a significant difference on back roads and interstate driving.

Pull the green insert from the H11 plug. H9 fits easily.
