First off, hi everyone. FNG here... this is my first Taco even though I’ve wanted one since I saw Marty McFly’s. I just bought my 15 Taco TRD OR a month ago. I bought the LED map and dome light kit from Tacoma Beast. I figure it was $15 so why not. Now my map and dome lights don’t work. I’ve checked and replaced all the fuses and nothing. I 180’d the led’s figuring polarity, nothing. I tried putting the original bulbs back in... nothing. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I did, but didn’t pay close enough attention. It’s supposed to be a 7.5 and it had a 5 in it. How the lights were working I don’t know. The 5 I put in popped. I just switched it out with the correct 7.5 fuse and they work now. Thank you!

That seems odd, I'm no electrician, but I'd have thought with changing to LED bulbs a 3A should work fine. The LED's should use less than half the current of the orig bulbs. Heck the LED.s create nearly no heat

Agreed. Which concerns me, but... it’s working now and nothing electrical is on fire. Which is a nice change, since I’m a Ford guy. ‍

As much as I love and can’t wait to mod my Taco, as soon as Yota builds something that can beat the ‘05 Excursion I have now or the ‘77, ‘86, and ‘95 Bronco’s I owned in the past (can’t fit four kids in one) I’ll be a full convert.

Yeah it’s still the reigning champ for total size. :) Glad to be here, can’t wait to start having fun with my new “toy”. Yeah, that Dana’s a beast. Two years ago I picked up a part time winter job plowing snow. I slid on snow covered black ice and got stuck. The wife pulled a Chevy 2500 dually flatbed w/ 10 foot plow and full sander out in 4hi going up a slight incline. I’ll be modding both trucks so I’ll post pics of them as I go.

Usually, yes, LEDs consume less energy but depending how high power those lights are they may actually draw a total of more amperage than the fuse is capable of handling over the stock bulbs.

Rule of thumb for fuse ratings are to run double the regular amperage draw of the circuit. If the entire dome and map lights are drawing more than 2.5 amps on the 5 amp fuse then the fuse is at the threshold and will pop eventually or potentially immediately. If the circuit now draws over 3.75 amps while on with the 7.5 amp fuse you replaced it with then you would need to step up to a 10 amp. So on and so forth until the wiring becomes the bottleneck.

I hope that explains things a little better.
