Are you running the Dakar Heavy Duty Leaf Springs plus two additional AAL’s? If so, what was the part number for the AAL’s and what order did you place?

Unfortunately I don't have the specific part number as I purchased the first AAL set separate from the second and from a local distributer, not a direct order. It's been good enough for my needs in the short run but definitely not ideal long term. If I had the money I'd go into a custom set from Deaver probably. Good luck!

I have questions for you sir.

Just loaded my truck up with full skids and front and rear bumpers. My sweet 3" lift took a serious squat, and I am now fearing for the life of my Dakars. Noticed you have the 700lb. springs on your Icons. How's the ride? I'm thinking I'll swap out my 650's for some of those if it's not bone-jarring. I installed an AAL into the leaf packs (OME mediums) about a year ago but they've taken on the distinctive 'W' shape. Do you think adding another leaf in would salvage them or should I go ahead and replace with a super heavy pack?

    Hi Zach...

The 700lb springs DEFINITELY help... BUT, they are stiff and can be jarring. It's most noticeable on hard bumps (especially at high speeds - like rocks or potholes) but I've learned to keep a better eye out for those because of it. The 650s didn't cut it.... especially with the winch weight. That said, I don't really know a better solution.

As for the rears... I have two AALs added now and it's ok for my short term needs and my budget but not ideal... As mentioned in my previous post here - I'd prefer a custom set of Deavers and will probably do that someday down the road. I've also heard of some local guys simply getting their leafs reshaped/rebuilt every year or so... That just sound weird to me, but it's an option.

Let me know if you have any other ideas/solutions - especially for the front.

Thanks for the info. Sounds like a 14" 650lb. spring would be awesome compromise for our Icon coilovers, but haven't seen that option anywhere. I will probably go with 700's and Dobinson's leaf packs (L59-112-R) if I can find a distributor. If my kilogram to pounds conversion is correct, should be good for over 1100lbs. which is right at my fully loaded, expedition bed weight. Luckily the Taco isn't my daily driver! I'm thinking of moving from a E rated tire to a C rated to offset some of the ride harshness too...

Good luck out there, and keep the pics coming man!

Haha, hardly ever post on TW anymore... mainly posting pics on instagram.

I'll have to look at the Dobinson's... hadn't heard of those yet. And good thinking on the tires... might help a tad.

Good luck to you too. Stay safe out there bud!

Cool. I have resisted the urge to go mirrorless. I do like the results everyone is getting especially at night, just can't commit to a whole new platform right now.

For commercial work Sony has some weird colors sometimes, but overall I'm happy with the versatility of the mirrorless design. Trust me though, there are days I still wish I was shooting Canon only.

Ryan and I have been playing a game where we find murals around the city, take a pic of it with the truck, then the other has to find it and and do the same.
