The long-awaited package from PrInSu Design Studios .. an Access Cab rack, arrive today.. just over a month from initial order.

Unfortunately, it's now a battle with the weather and weekends available before winter hits, whether it'll installed in the next few weeks, or next spring.

Turning into a 2 day project. Measuring and marking up drill points, before even eyeballing the drill took 2 hours alone.. another 3 hours to drill and fit the rivet-nuts into the roof body channel. It looks like i got all of the drill points bang-on in measurement, which was totally nerve-racking.

Oh, and about 2 minutes to fark up one of the body channel rubber mouldings with my bench press.. that didn't go so well. They'll be cut apart and used in pieces instead of one piece as originally planned. Metal spine in the moulding, got grabbed by the drill-bit and totally tore the hell out of the first moulding :/

Tomorrow, i should have it all bolted together again inside of 2 hours.

With the exception of sectioning and fitting the weather-stripping .. finit. My little 5-lug slug has attained maximum utility capabilities. Zach of Prinsu designs makes a mighty fine product.

That looks really good! I was always under the impression there were pre drilled holes on the top. I guess there aren't :p

I wonder if they make those racks for single cabs?

The double cabs were pre-drilled - Toyota deemed the access cab not worthy of a factory rack, or future outfitting of an aftermarket one.

I don't think that Prinsu makes one for the single cab, unfortunately.

A little bit of a progress update - got the Gorilla nuts and alloy spacer adapters (60.1 to 73mm) for the Jeep specific rims installed today on my oil service.

Frame and undercarriage is relatively clean/corrosion free, but going in for a re-coating to be on the safe side. A few areas on the frame are a little suspect. Want to get the bumpers rust-bombed inside also.

Weight of front bumper, as suspected, has accelerated brake-pad wear. Down to 4 mm now at 76k km. Was at 7mm at 60k km. Rear brakes, minimal wear since last check. Hmm.. wonder what Lexus front end components might fit? o_O

Ordered a bunch of stuff, including a new set of LED driving lights, and turn/indicator signals in a ruggedized housing for the arb bumper, from http://www.shop.labrak.com/ARB-Bumper-Fog-Light-Assembly-Upgrade-ARB-light.htm .. a little overkill, but it refines function and form.

A BIG nit-pick of mine, is getting addressed. The absolutely annoying lack of intermittent wipers.

Trailer hitch wiring finally got ordered, also.

Interior is now getting a modest make over - i'm a closet tech geek wannabe. Visions of the upgrade, include tablet-managed reporting OBD2 data through bluetooth, a bunch of custom switches being collected up, rear view camera (not back-up) full-time selectable through the HU. I'll be able to retire the Scanguage2 that's served me well, if kludged in design.

Good thing that i've got the whole winter for collecting of parts and formulation of projects in mind..

Some of the switch blanks have wiring going to them, some don't. Some wiring is already there - just waiting for a plugin of a module for this, or a rear view camera there... I have to do further research into it (why not use existing wiring that goes from point a. to point b.?), as well as resources like this..

Not to sidetrack your build thread, which I've been enjoying, but who is Scott57011 (can't seem to find that name via member search) and what wheels are those on his truck (in this photo)

    Thanks!

Dashboard is getting a bit busy - i guess the definition of distracted driving (or has the potential of being so..).

Preliminary setup, using the bird dawg industries tech deck mount and RAM mounts. Cell is for GPS and connectivity, Tablet is for OBD2 monitoring and media, Kenwood KDX-470 deck is going to be wired for rear view camera, and talks to the other bluetooth enabled devices as the hub. This won't be finalized until the spring warm-up occurs, when i can rip part of my interior apart, add additional wiring for cameras, switches and insulation.

Who would have thought that i would be installing car parts in the driveway, on Christmas Eve, in Southern Ontario, without need for gloves. Freaky-arsed weather.

    Toyota OEM running boards.

And a few more things showed up via UPS in the past week. Top are the ARB bumper inserts with LED spots by Labrak, and running lights in a more 'armored' metal housing, than that provided with the ARB bumper. Bottom are Steelcraft rear light cages.

Installed the set of Tail light guards on the 5-lug slug today.. had 'em for a few months already but just got around to looking at 'em with 10mm in hand. Not so sure about them.. may be crossing the line on unnecessary crap being hung onto the truckette, JC Whitney style.

They have to come off again yet - need to install a tow wiring harness, that i felt too lazy to do today.
