My wife and I finally got a chance to enjoy my little taco this weekend. Drove for several hours on the beach watching everybody get stuck to the axles. Gotta say I still love my Tacoma!! We scooted around without a care in the world, and never once had an issue. Got tons of milky way pics in the process. I'll be back on the beach this fall when you can drive out on the beach at Ocracoke at night. Should be even better. More pics to come later....

    Crazy picture!
I'll be down for memorial day. Are they still charging for beach access?

Scooting around is all I can afford anymore. “Manning up” gets expensive....which isn’t a big deal until your wife is riding with you the whole time lol.

I use a Nikon D750 and an old d5000. Skill takes a good picture, the camera is only a tool.

$50 for 10 days. I found out later that night driving on the beach is over for the season. I’ll be back this summer and on the beach in October.

I had one before and wouldn’t even think about about trying it. Replacing it with the off-road was partially for this exact trip.

2wd won't even make it up the entrance ramp.

Man, I remember when it was free, then all these stupid bird lovers showed up and started pushing restriction... its sad. The north end of the island is still free and open year round.

What part closes? I know they shut down alot of Pea Island for the nesting birds, but they do leave some ramps open year round.

Yep, me too! It was only changed a few years ago.

    https://www.nps.gov/caha/planyourvisit/maps.htm

It has the dates of where and when certain beaches are closed on the map.

Been down there 2x with my Tacoma (my avatar picture is from the house we had on the sand). Was awesome cruising up and down the beach for 6+ miles with 0 problems, watching full size F150s and Rams stuck in sand up to their axles. I'm assuming they didnt lower tire pressure.
