i really dont understand the pickup only stuff. im looking for some things and have contacted members about there items for sale. i have even offered to pay for there time to ship. ups ships up to 150 pounds now. hmm i could have an all pro bumper shipped to me from either coast for under 100 dollars. i guess people want to sell there stuff but are to lazy to box it up. idk sorry about the rant . i have found so many things for my taco on this forum and cant buy half of them becouse they refuse to ship. please explain the rational behind this.ps i have 4 trd superchargers with fit kits for sale. 300 bucks each local pick up only , and only on tuesdays between 4pm and 4:01 lol .. you get the point

x2. I've never needed to purchase anything, but I constantly see local pickup only. If someone is willing to pay to ship, then I'd take the money and run in a heartbeat.

Some people just don't have the time to get to a UPS store or such.
That and I think some of it has to do with worries about being ripped off, the buyer not being happy and wanting their money back.. issues like that.

and on a side note.. CASPER! I used to live in Casper!

I understand both arguements, Post offices now a days are really hectic, lines are long and they have lots of standards before they let you ship out a package some people just dont have the extra time to go through those processes. But then again time is money and if they wanna sale it bad enough they'd totally do it.

People selling their stuff can do whatever the hell they want.

What does this have to do with 2nd Gen Tacoma's?

Well, MetroPhoenix is home to a lot of Tacomas so there is a good chance one could sell something locally. Same with SoCal. But if someone is in Idaho and says local pick up, well that's silly.

well let's see.... the OP has a second gen so he would most likely be looking at stuff sold by another member witha second gen... so it involves two second generation tacomas driving to their respective post offices... or something like that
    ;)

i have shipped out quite a few things. I too have the same frustration when people say local pick up only. especially if its something small. irritates the crap out of me.

sometimes it's an issue of finding packaging.

If you ship stuff all the time it may not seem like a big deal, but to those of us that don't it can be a major hassle to try to find a box to fit what you want, get to UPS, deal with the idiots behind the counter, etc. For me it wouldn't be about the money or the cost of the shipping. you could not pay me enough to deal with the idiots at UPS down here if I didn't have to, and to then send me in with some oversized item? No way in hell.

Generally I find that the best deals are "local pickup only" because the seller knows that they are limiting their market but in trade they are avoiding the hassle of dealing with shipping. They price their stuff accordingly. If they were willing to ship it probably wouldn't be such a great deal, and you wouldn't want it anymore anyway.

Now, anybody got a Snugtop shell for a '10 DC shortbed in white? Local pickup only? :D

If someone wants to sell something bad enough, they'll ship it as it doesn't limit they're sell and time to find a potential buyer...

but if they don't care or don't want it, people are beat...

    you gotta want it...
