Had to Drive 15 Miles Without a Radiator

    Question...

    At what temperature will the aluminum block start to become damaged?

    Never overheat an aluminum block. It's most likely trashed if you overheated it real good. Unlike ol cast iron blocks the aluminum warps like no other.

    If you ever need the engine to cool down turn the heat on max (not recirculate) and keep the rpm's down. even crack the hood if your going real slow.

    My comment to you is to delete your above post and let insurance cover it. Hopefully you did smoke the engine and it is covered by insurance. I would not admit to anything unless specifically asked. Just tell them you crashed. Sometimes to much info is a very bad thing.

    Next time get out and walk until you get cell service or try and get a ride from a passer by. Sorry for the bad luck.
